Removing rear view mirror on 2007

Finally figured out how to remove the rear view mirror on my 2007. For those that are interested.......Take a small flat head screwdriver and insert it in the opening at the bottom of the mirror attachment, push in as far as possible and at the same time wiggle the mirror and pull straight up. Came off without any problem and certainly didn't require enough force to break the windshield.

Not to hijack the thread but since we're on the subject....

My rearview mirror has a bunch of wires running to it that run into small squarelike box that suurounds the base thats stuck to the windshield. I have a 2007 XLT Screw and as fas I know, I don't have a power rear view mirror option. What are the wires for? And what is the box that they go into?

Do you have the auto dimming mirror? If so it is the wiring for power and the sensors.

Does it look like a normal mirror? If so then no. If not and it has 2 sensors looking eyes in the bottom then it is. Another way to tell is if someone is behind you and the lights are kind of a dim green color. Also you wont have the manual dimming flipper. Hope my rambling helped.

bgreer

can't thank you enough. I was probably about 30 seconds from disaster when I did another google search and found your post. Worked like a Champ!

Thanks again.
