Can anyone tell me if the 06 SCREW 4x4 XLT has any rear storage bins (ie under the rear seat or behind it)? Thanks.

 

Juts door maps pockets and a bolted to floor jack.

I was looking at a Du-Ha but wow! $170 plus shipping for a bin that holds about the same as a box that my boots came in? Also you have to reloate the jack to inside your spare to get any real space under the seats. I miss the large trunks sometimes.

There has got to be better storage systems!

Ford makes one that fits under the seats on a SCREW. You can find it on any of the Ford Accessories website. It doesn't hold all that much but it is better than nothing and keeps stuff from rolling around back there as much. It is only under the bigger section of the foldup back seat though if you were looking for something bigger.

 

I was thinking it would be relatively easy to make something up out of MDF or a similar material that will basically be 3 sided, bolted to the front lip of the seat bracket on both sides. Then just cover it in automotive carpet in the right color. That way the "compartment" will be as large as possible.

The DuHa one looks flimsy...no way in hell am I paying what they go for.

An even cheaper/easier alternative may be finding the right size rubbermaid-type plastic container and securing it somehow.

Looks more sturdy than the Du Ha one, but for what it is I think the price is still kind of high.

 

I bet some MDF like you said would be good. You could carpet that with something matching the floor. It would probably be easy to secure to existing seat framework and you probably couldn't tell it was there unitl you lifted the seat. But then again, in a Screw, how often does that happen, you got the bed anyway.

 

I'm going to try and pick up some 1/2" MDF over my next couple of days off and make something up. One potential problem I see is that things at the back of the "box" may block the seat from folding up because the back edge of the seat bottom sort of drops downward. I'll take pics and record measurements if I do.

I have a down under storage bin in my '07 SCrew. It is nice, but the extra storage they offer does not justify the price. Plus it is not enough storage space. I am now looking at a low profile tool box for the bed.

At least by making a box for under the seat the cash outlay will not hurt quite as bad as buying something that is too small.

I have the Ford underseat storage bin as TxNexxie84 gave the link for. I do like it and it was easy to install. It mounts to the existing holes in the seat mounts with supplied plastic rivits. I changed those out and bought larger plastic wing nuts so I can take it out easier for cleaning underneath it. The one downfall is that it does not have a lot of storage, but it is good for the smaller stuff that you don't want rolling around.
