I am very upset and need some help
OK, since I am the only member in the family that tries to take care of the new truck, I have a problem. A crayon was left in the center tray on the dash on Wed night. Well, it was 90 degrees here yesterday so I don't think I need to explain any further. Does anyone here know what I could clean the tray with to remove all of this melted brown crayon. I am the only one that gives a crap; my wife would leave it there forever if I left it to her.

I thought about the hairdryer too...
that may be my only hope. I will try that this weekend. I guess worse case I will just have to buy another one. Thanks for the replies ya'll!
Here's how I'd probably attack it...
Crayons are waxed based, right?.. Take the insert out (if removable) and put into the refrig. This will solidify the mass. Use a plastic scraper of some sort (raid the wife's kitchen utility drawer if neccessary), and get off as much as you can with it.
You'll probably be left with small bit of wax and a stain. At this point I'd start hitting with a degreasing agent such as a 409 or similar. If worried about possible damage from the chemical, flip the insert over and test on the backside. Work it, work it, work it... You could try a less aggresive cleaner first... maybe something from an automotive interior cleaner line. I don't expect these products will touch it, but my motto is go least aggressive first, and then work your way up.
If the stain still remains, I suppose you could paint it with some matching interior paint.
Good luck, and let us know what works for you.

This reminds me of when I was a teen.
I had an extensive album collection.
My younger sister 'borrowed' a half dozen of the best ones and was taking them to a friends house. She laid them on the dash of the car, in the summer and her trip was delayed.
I was very upset and in need of some help too.
