My 2004 Supercrew rear sliding window won't open or move. I think the motor is behind the seat back but don't know how to remove the seat back. Any ideas?

Also, how do you remove the headling bezel that contains the switch? If it's not the motor it might be the switch.

the bezel is held in by clips. it can pop off with a lil pressure, just be careful with it. when i took my back seats out, the bottom seat had to come out first and then the back will slide up. its not too hard but my dad owns a body shop... i was told that you have to buy the whole back glass in order to just get the motor. my motor went out and retail the window is around 900 dollars retail. i could have got it at about 5 to 6 hundred but it wasnt worth it to me. if i want it to slide ill use my hand. hopefully for you it is a switch. use a test light to check. let me know how it went. good luck

 

If it costs that much too fix,I'll have a solid window put back in to replace it on mine.It's nice to have,but not that nice at that price.Hope it's the switch not the motor.

 

I've checked the switch and it works and there is power to the switch. Now the hard part is to remove the rear seat back. It sounds like I have to remove the seat cushion first then tackle the clips.

Is this right?

 

Probably a dumb question but, I'm assuming that you're out of warranty?

 

Twice in the past year my rear window stopped working. Checked almost daily for a couple of months before taking it in for warranty repair. Both times, two different dealers, both said they couldn't dupicate the problem. In other words, it supposedly worked when they went to look at it. Keep in mind that I checked it myself before I left it. Think there is something fishy here?

 

Yes, I am out of warranty. I took the seat back off after a bit of a struggle with the screwdriver and clip but it did work. The key was to push down on the cushion to release...as it says in the instructions.

Once all apart I found that everything worked much to my surprise. But after looking closely and often, the only thing I suspect is that the motor connector wire was wrapped around the cables and I wonder if after so many opening/closing cycles the cables started to unplug the motor. If you watch the motor, it has springs on the ends of the cables at the motor housing that 'pull and push' during opening/closing and the cables flex.

It now works all the time,..... for now.
