cab leak

I have a 2004 F-150 Lariat Edition...I noticed that the carpet was soaked on both front sides. So I pulled back the carpet and along the sides where the wires run, were full of water...I shop vac-ed it, then I ran water all around the windshield and doors while my buddy sat in the cab waiting for water to leak. Nothing showed, so I thought maybe the doors weren't shut completely or the windows were cracked open. For the next week, I left the carpets up and let air flow through the cab in my garage to dry out the pad and carpet completely. Well, it rained hard last night, and today I found another puddle on the driver side, but not the passenger side. My next step is to the dealer, but can someone help????

If your car is still under warranty I would take it straight to the dealership and let them deal with it.

My F150 is out of warranty and I am replacing the 3rd brake light because of that seal leaking but also noticed today the front passenger side carpet a little wet. I to looked into the channel and low and behold there was water there to....Were you able to find out where your leak was coming from.

Add another to the list... Heres my deal... Only on the drivers side, about 12-15 inches in from the door (where the wires run) is wet, and only on the flat part of the floor (not up the firewall or up the seat)... I checked the passenger carpet and rear as well.. Also, I havent noticed any PUDDLES where the wires are, at all... As we speak my truck is in the garage with the carpet propped up and the heat on in the garage... I pulled the only two plugs I found under the carpet where it was wet and they appeared to have a good seal (one has wires running through it and the other is only about the side of a quarter)... One thing I did notice while laying under my truck though is that where the plastic peice that covers the wires, clips in to, you can see up into the cab when that peice is removed.. I checked the plastic peice and it has rubber on each one of the clips, but im wondering if MAYBE its not sealing it well enough? I havent done the "hose test" yet, but plan on doing so tomorrow... Any of you guys get any leads on this, be sure to post them up!
Should mention, I have an 04 FX4 ext cab that I baught two weeks ago this coming friday, and it is out of warrent and the dealer I baught it from wont do anything about it... Funny part, my dad called them up (the dealer), while I was workin today and the guy basically just told my dad he couldnt do anything so my dad asked him if it was under the "Get Effed Warrenty" and he said pretty much.. haha I hate to add this part, but I baught the truck from a cough, chevy dealer, cough which by their service, tells me to never buy a chevy haha... Best deal I found on this model truck within a 300mile radius of searching so I went ahead with the deal...

Cool deal... I THINK that I may have solved my leak today... I "water tested" all areas and the only thing I came up with was when I took the hose and sprayed the under side of my truck, I noticed that some bubbles were appearing around the edged of the smaller "plug"... I went and picked up some good silicone caulk and pulled the plug, cleaned it, and put a nice thick coat around it and stuck it back in... Leavin it sit over night in the heated garage and hopefully this will end my problem... If that solves it, I still need to figure out a way to dry out the carpet and insulation though, any ideas besides the obvious of proppin it open and air drying? On a bad note, I took my truck to a body shop today and got a quote to fix my right front fender (dented in pretty good) and it was $605.11... Thats for a fender, new badge, paint, and everything included but hes "not charging me" for the small labor stuff... Ouch... My guess was around $300 to fix it... Doh...

I have a 2004 SuperCrew and have been having the same problem with the water leak on the drivers floorboard. I also have the "platinum" extended warranty and to my suprise when i took this in to the ford dealership to diagnose the leak it is not covered. The leak is apparently coming from the third brake mount light and eventhough there is no damage to the light assembly the dealership said it was not covered. Unreal!!! What good are extended warranties!!! The dealership wanted to charge $205 bucks to fix the problem and when I complained and told them just to put it back and I would fix it thye charged me $100 bucks for diagnostics lol are u serious.....great customer service I might add. I take my truck there for all work but I can say that was the last time. I took the light assembly apart ane replaced the gasket but I just had to use regular weatherstripping because you cannot just purchase the gasket from ford you have to purchase the whole assembly. Hopefully I fixed the issue... Have you had this problem if so how did you fix it?
