Help, I need assistance with armrest...

Help!!! I have a 98 F-150 with Capt Chairs and each have one inboard armrest. The driver side has slipped to the point that it will not hold my arm up but drops down whenever pressure is placed on it in the horizontal position. I have tried to tighten that big torx bolt at the base of the armrest with no success, I mean it gets tight but that does not hold the armrest up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
btw, I think this site is fantastic

Come on now, someone must know something about Capt chairs, I just need a little info about the armrests, should I try and replace the driver side, how do you thghten the armrest once it is installed, I am not very mechanically inclined so this is a big deal to me. Otherwise, I let the folks mechanics mechanic... I was hoping this would not be a big deal and I could do it myself...
Thanks for anyone's help

okay, I will take a stab at it.

I don't know the answer but I will try.

As far as I know, when they tighten it at Lear manufacturing, they are using impact guns to fasten the bolts.

This will get it tighter than you can by hand.

So take the cover off, find someone with an impact gun and correct size of Torx bit and go to town.

but this is of course a guess based on past experiences.I could be 100% wrong

I have a '97 with the chairs but no drooping problem. I do know that there has to be some kind of stop for it (a flange or nipple or something). It has to be attached to the seat because when I adjust the seatback the armrest moves with it.

I don't think the tightness of the bolt is a problem (the armrest is supposed to rotate anyway). If I had to guess I'd say that the armrest stop is loose, broken or has fallen off.
