LED Bulb Q?

2007 F150, Regular Cab
l'm replacing my headlamps on my truck. I wanted to install LED bulbs in the turn signal bulbs, but heard that l need some kind of resistor to make them blink. Is this true?

Not if you replace the flasher with a EP27 flasher made for LED bulbs. Available from all major parts stores and Amazon.

Either load resistors or an EP27 flasher unit will be needed to prevent hyper-flashing.

Question

Question; Where the outside bulb (#194) goes on the outer part of the headlamp assembly, can I use an LED bulb there?

Any LED bulb will fit/work in any standard bulb socket just as long as the length/width (and socket type) of the led fits in the same housing. I replaced my front and rear signals/brake lights with LEDs. '98 F150. I replaced the interior dome light and dash lites also. The only exceptions on issues are the signals and I just bought the LED compatible relay instead of cutting my wires to put in resistors. Most LEDs are also dimmable as my dash lites still dim.
Be aware tho that some -red- brake/turn lens housings may not filter the white light if you use a white LED in a Red Lens and it will show as pinkish color. You would then need to use a red LED to compensate. LEDs have very little "off colors" that most normal bulbs have. It just depends on the make/model of vehicle. Google/Yahoo/DuckDuckGo "LED red brake lens housing not red" or something similar and it will explain it a lot better then I can.

When I had my 2008, I had it completely outfitted with Sylvania Zevo leds. They really are the best out there you can throw in the stock housings when it’s comes to turn signals, brakes, tag lights, etc.

for the LED turn signal bulbs: yes you will need a resistor, in case it's already built-in with the bulbs (black box hanging on the wires harness) then you are good to go, otherwise buy it separately.
I believe there is a specific resistor load rating for our trucks (50W or something?), if it's not putting enough load, you will still get the hyper-flashing (been there, done that)...

Honestly, you don’t need or want resistors. Replace the flasher relay with an EP-27. Much easier and it doesn’t involve hacking up your wiring.

I wish it were still so simple on my 2017. I can use forscan, but haven’t. Good news is you only get hyper flash in the dash and the actual lights outside flash at normal speed. I’ve lived with it so far.
