Spot, Flood, or mix of lights?

So I'm gonna put 4 LEDs on the front of my truck to supplement my lighting when off road... Something like these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00E0K..._1423758982814

What do people prefer when they do 4--all spot beams, half spot and half flood? Thanks!

Howdy.

Reckon thet would depend upon yer predominant usage & needs, & th' predominant terrain ye's playin' in.

Are ye rock-crawlin' at low speeds, er flyin' bawls-out down the trails?

Reckon a mix would be best fer most all-'roond use. Up to ye.

Heck - if'n ye installs enough of both types, ye kin switch the spots & floods separately - the best of both worlds. What's another switch, eh? That's what I'd do - but I'm nuts an' e'erybody know'd it!

Living in Florida, not much option for rock crawling. Mainly a mix of driving down back roads or trails at moderate speed, but also slow going through swamps, forest trails and firebreaks. Mainly concerned about seeing ruts and holes, puddles, mud, etc--but also want good visibility on the edges to see critters before they dart out (ie boars).

Two spots - straight ahead

Two floods aimed a bit to the left & right, respectively.

And/or - do a HID projector retrofit using 50w capsules and ballasts - and get it all with far more actual usable lumens.

Lookee at these pitchers:

And a full-on retrofit ( FX-R's, 50w, 5000K )

FWIW - I'd still switch spots & floods separate - because I can, lol.

Never really looked into HID retrofits, seemed so expensive and like it required all kinds if modding... Is all I'd need something like this: http://www.hidretrofitlights.com/sho...te-hid-system/ ? Plug and play?

No - that's is just PnP - and will not produce the output you see above. NEVER put PnP HID's in stock halogen reflectors.

You want this: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/com...ofit-kits.html

Much more info in this thread - if ye's willing to learn: https://www.f150online.com/forums/il...ml#post5129715

What's different in those kits? One you recommend or fits the 2011 easily? I'll start reading the other thread too.

Differences are, cost, output, and quality ( with the all-OEM being highest ).

Easiest is the Mini-H1.

Another recent - and perhaps more relevant - thread - when ye finish cipherin' the other one:
