Anyone attempted this before for fogs?

I have a 2005 Lariat so it already came with the fog lights but I'm looking for something brighter. Name: IMAG0094_zps27eee6ab.jpg

Yesterday I got the idea of a doing a somewhat retrofit with a set of these: http://www.autoanything.com/lights/r...ies-led-lights

I'm just brainstorming right now but the basic idea would be to trim the back of the fog housing and mount these in each one, similar to a retrofit for the headlights. Has anyone thought about this or attempted to do this before? If so how did it go and your thoughts?

Thanks for reading.

Hi.

You could do that and spend ~$220-$460 = 1500 lumens per side. After a lot of fabrication.

Or - just drop in Silverstar 9005 replacement halogens for ~$25 = 1700 lumens per side. Zero fabrication, and brighter.

Or -you could drop in a pair of TRS matchbox HID projectors ( Or Mini H1's ) for ~$200 = > 2500 Lumens. Some Fabrication required.

That would actually be better because you have no warm up time with leds.

To answer your question, yes. I've seen something like that quite a few times on round fog light hole'd trucks. But that's removing the light altogether and sticking one of those LED pods in its place.

But I'd definitely rather have a matchbox retro

I've really wanted to do something like this. A few guys who have done the rigids in front first and then retrofit say retrofit is far superior. I already have retrofit heads so it doesn't make sense to do this. I would do mini h1s instead, but its a little on the labor intensive side.....and that's why my fogs are still running the halogen bulbs

Has anyone ever attempted to change the mounts on an 06-08 from plastic to metallic so us round fog guys can have those sweet 1700 lumen bulbs that WON'T catch our bumper on fire? (Though I do call my truck the Grey Ghost and with a flaming bumper, I could call it Ghost Rider
