Rigid Dually Diffused Backup Lights

OK, got my lights last Friday and installed them on my '13 FX2. I didn't want to do any drilling so I mounted them on existing screws on the bumper. I also felt that mounting them under and back a little bit would limit the available light output.

My initial installation was going to use the 7-pin trailer connection. I bought the trailer side of the connector and wired it up. Nothing. Check the voltage and it was about 8-10v (old analog meter, hard to read). Check at battery, reads 10+. Run wires directly off battery, lights work. OK, so it's not the lights. I return the 7-pin connector and get a different one thinking there is something wrong with it. Same issue, except with only one light plugged in it will blink now. Cool, a strobe light!

I decided to skip the trailer connection and just tap into the reverse wire on the truck side of the connector. Bingo! Bright light!

Has anyone ever seen voltage drop across the trailer connector? Doesn't seem right.

Very happy with light output for use as a backup aid. Will work on angling them a bit to see if that helps or not.

I know, truck is dirty. Just got back from the shooting range which has a long gravel driveway.

Hey, you broadcast to the masses what you want and I'll hide what I want.

Are you indicative of the type of users on this forum? If so, I can see why this place is a little slower than other related sites.

Think he was just joking, chief.

Looks real sharp though. Mind if I ask where you got the lights from?

Thanks. I bought them at 4wheelparts.com

He may have been joking. That's the problem with the internet. Ya can't always interpret comments like that properly.

Looks great ..... I'm looking to replace my now two dead PIAA 1500 reverse lights I have mounted under my bumper

Do you like the diffused lenses or do you think the flood would have been better? Are you happy with the distance of the light could you use them as a work light?

Well I can't compare to floods because I haven't seen those in person.

They provide plenty of light to work with as long as you are within 15ft or so, then it really starts to taper off.

What I like is that with them mounted at the edge of the bumper, you also get a lot of vertical light too.

The lights look good!

I've been thinking about grabbing some reverse lights like this. I can't see crap at night as it is, and I'm planning on getting 5% tint. Thanks for the pics, might have to check these out!

Sweet thanks for the response

I think I might go with the Flood because I would like a little farther throw as I'm backing up

Sucks that you have to mount them upside down ... wonder if you can take the faceplate off and mount them that way.

Pics of my switch from http://otrattw.com.
I used an ON/OFF/ON switch so I could set them for reverse only or manually turn them on as needed.

I have a SPST switch wired to do the same thing - I can either manually turn the lights on anytime I want, or when I go into reverse the lights come on automatically...either way works great and am glad I have the option to manually turn them on!
