HIDs flicker go out???

so when i bought my truck back it had HIDs in it. the guy that bought it from me just put in the drop in kit for the reflector heads and fogs. the fogs work great with no problem but the heads are not working properly.

when first turned on both the heads burn. after a minute or two the drivers head flickers then turns off. if you flip the brights on then off or turn the system off and back on the head will come back on only to go out after a few seconds. it is only the drivers side head that has this problem. we checked all the wiring and connections and all looks good so the only thing i can figure is a bad ballast or a problem supplying the proper power to the ballast.

I have searched all 13 pages of the "lighting and illumination" sub forum and the only thing i really found was that i might need relays. this kit was just a plug and play kit with ballasts, no relays. anybody had this problem???

i am saving to get the complete retrofit projector kit from theretrofitsource.com but i wont be able to purchase much less install it for at least a month or two so i need to fix these cheap reflector HIDs in the meantime. any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Milt IV

you need to put them on a relay, or get a "relay harness"

while you are at it do the bambi mod
