07 fx4 replacement fogs

I am wanting to either replace the bulbs in my fog lights (07 round fx4 fogs) or the entire light and housing. I want to upgrade to something brighter, but dont want to run the risk of melting the stock housing. I am putting silverstars or phillips crystal ultras in my headlights, would they be a solid choice for the fogs as well? Any suggestions are appreciated.

You could upgrade to the 9145s, and get a 5W increase, but its near impossible for the human eye to notice a mere 15-30lm increase. 9006's would get you a 10W increase, probably near 200lm, and 9005s will be be 20W over stock, and possibly ~500lm over stock, but 9005/9006s run the chance of melting your plastic housings.

But If you have stock headlamp bulbs, you can replace them with brighter units, but the length is substantially shorter than OEM long-life bulbs, so don't expect anything over two years (with average driving rates).

There is a thread in the 2004-2008 forum on doing a PIAA change out. Think is was 510s that were installed in place of the factory ones.
