I bought a better looking one off ebay for $45 last year and was still able to use my own choice of cargo bulbs ( 18smt LEDs ).

I was looking at doing an Ebay one, but with that rear seal not being too good, it scares me. I figured if I had a problem with the Recon seals, it would be replaced under its "life time" warranty.

i have the same led third brake lights that Darren is talking about (smoked and chrome) on our f150s and neither of the two has had any problems. i paid 100 for my recon and 45 apiece for my ebay ones and they work the same, brighter, and are holding up really well.

Buy one directly from 'Recon'..you will be much happier. I got one from 'Stylingtrucks' and had nothing but problems, mostly a fitting issue...went directly to Recon and haven't looked back. Yea..a few bucks more, but..you get what you pay for.

Anything aftermarket isn't going to fit like OEM.

I installed the 3rd brake light on my 2008 and love it. It's only been there for a week now but it looks great in my opinion!

I bought both the Recon and eBay 3rd brake lights and contrary to popular belief they are not the same. The Recon housing build is slightly different, the seal is better, and the fit is better as well.

I posted a night pic that I took myself on my Amazon account:

From the research I've done, Recon outsources their designs to Chinese factories that mass produce them and resell them to different distributors for a much cheaper price, most of which are on eBay. Due to licensing issues they aren't gong to be IDENTICAL but they will change something to be exempt. That's why they look similar. Performance wise, they are both going to use non-BOM'ed, no-name LEDs that will burn out over time.

If you could find something that says otherwise, I'd love to hear that.

Careful when you say Recon has a lifetime warranty. Thats not completly true, no matter what their website says. I'm dealing with an issue on some tail lights, that I bought from them directly, right now.

Sorry you had to go through their troubles. First time I saw their products firsthand, I knew they were like V-LEDs where they markup cheap products so high it fools people into thinking they're great. I wasn't impressed with what I saw.
