New Fog Lights

I have a 2006 f150, but I want to put a 2005 Bumper with Square fogs on the truck. (Found one online for $170) It doesnt come with the fog lights or anything. I plan on putting 8000k HIDs in them. Would I have to buy new mounting hardware to get it on the truck? Do I have to buy the light shells and a wiring harness or something?

Thanks

You will have to buy bumper mounting brackets aswell cause they are slightly different then the round ones. Yes you will have to buy the foglight bracket and housing. Wiring harness should be the same.

Why do you want to switch? It doesn't matter which style fog light you use if you put HIDs into it. Its just gonna be a big glaring mess in either case, fog lights with drop in HID just don't perform well.

The mounting hardware is different between the 04/05 & 06-08 MY. The Frame Manufacture changes between the 05 & 06 MY.

Ford TSB 06-10-9 explains what needs to be done for a frame change on a 04/05 MY truck. The rear bumper needs to be changed, and I think the front bumper brackets ( not 100% sure, but something is telling me that ).

The lights, you will find that the wire from the main headlamp switch to the CJB for the fog lamp relay is not installed, which means if you are gong with the factory switch you will need to either 1) run the wire to the CJB, and use an external relay to wire into the factory position or 2) run the wire from the main headlamp switch out to the engine compartment and install the relay there.

So Sscully, where can i find this article about how to do the frame change. Would It be easier to just wire it to a toggle switch? then I could use them when I want and they arent always on with the headlights?

Yeah you can run your own switch if you want. Some people prefer it, others like the OEM switch. Its all up to you.

The factory switch has the function of on any time the parking lamps are on.
If you want to be able to run them with the parking lamps off, that would require an external switch.

Comes down to what functionality do you want the aux lamps to have, and then what type of switch you want for the install.

If the parking lamp requirement to have the aux lamps on is fine and you want it to look factory, you can spend the money on a new main headlamp switch ( in the $75 range ).

Why do you want to run 8k hids in your fogs? Your gonna have zero usable light output from them.

cause it looks cool and blinding people is the trend nowadays.

I just got home and on the interstate I passed a 2011 Ram 2500, lifted with 10K HID heads and fogs. SOOOO MUCH GLARE I could see the blue for miles away. If I were a cop I would've shoved a ticket so far up his gay Dodge butt
