flickering is a sign of low voltage.

Me too!
And you can be also. Use the How to in my signature for a guide line.
Were you using a wiring harness connected to the battery?

there are a few on here, but i suggest you dont do that- the foreground illumination by the fog lights has your eyes prefocus on them rather than the light being thrown down the road. it nullifies the purpose of the high beams in the first place. I have my heads and fogs tied seperately and I find myself shutting my fogs off when high beams are engaged.

How could I get the voltage up? Buy a different ballast?

Definately understandable. especially since you are running HID's.

A.) if you put a 55W ballast on a 35W bulb, you will kill it. Maybe not now, but over the course of a couple hundred hours it will color shift and die 3x sooner.

B.) You would have to upgrade to TRUE 55W bulbs. For this I recommend the Philips DL50 system.

C.) beware, a lot of those 55W ballasts on eBay aren't 55W. they are 35W "juiced up" so you have electronics overloading what they are supposed to. again, you have to pay to play. Philip DL50 ballasts and bulbs. Around $200 but they are THE best 55W bulbs & ballasts on the planet. The Morimoto 5Five (what I have) are real 55W ballasts, but not as good.

Lastly, there is only a 15-20% increase in brightness from 35W to 55W.

more so towards me, but this principal applies to everyone. its like shining a flashlight directly into your eye and trying to concentrate on something a mile away at night.

do you want a retrofit projector like me? thats not what you need. if you want a silly and dangerous P&P kit, yes thats everything.

cowboy, go read the FAQs: Halogens v HIDs sticky at the top of this subforum before you buy anything, it might help you out.
