Going down the road, just stopped blowing cold, where to start?

2005 F150 XL, driving down the road this evening, the thing just stopped blowing cold in any setting (max, recirc, defrost). Compressor does not appear to be engaging. It was dark, so I did not have an opportunity to do any troubleshooting. Where do I start? Was working fine.

Check clutch air gap first. If excessive (over 0.030"), perform a shimectomey.

I am out on the road and have access to no tools, anyone in Atlanta know a honest place to take it, except the ford dealership which will charge me more than the truck is worth to fix it. I am in North Atlanta near 75/285 Cobb Parkway area for the week.

The compressor won't engage if the freon is low causing a low compressor suction pressure. Could be the pressure switch.

Ford hasn't used Freon since 1992 so it cannot be that.

Low refrigerant will not cause his sudden onset symptom.

Evidently, Autozone still calls it Freon sometimes too.

It ended up being some sort of sensor, they replace it and $213 later, I had cold air...
