knocking

knocking

I have a knocking sound coming from my ac compressor any idea what it might be. I also replaced it less than a year ago

If you used a remanufactured compressor thats probably the problem. Should have a warranty if less than a year on the replacement.

Yea thats what a figured I have about a month left I need to take it off and replace it do you or anyone know how to drain the whole thing

Are you talking about draining the oil from the compressor or the fridge from the system?

Gotta watch those "warranties" if you replaced the compressor and don't have a reciept for the receiver/dryer and the expansion valve/orifice tube they will likely not give you a new one. Also tell them you flushed the system when you replaced the compressor...just a hint

I know I used to work at O'reilly auto parts so I know all the loop holes in the warranties department and I also bought them all at the same time.

and as for the draining I meant the refrigerant

most people and places that do the work want the refrigerant captured rather than just cracking a valve and releasing it. you can probally take it to a place that does the work and get them to extract it for a small fee.

did u replace youself? the refridgerant must be recovered
did u vaccum the lines with a vaccum pump before recharging the system?
if u had air or moisture in the system, it will cause compressor failure.
are u low on refridgerant?

I did not replace myself

yes it was vaccumed

I dont know if I am low, I need to check
