2007 XLT SCrew HVAC

My HVAC started making this electronic growling sound when either the A/C or heater is on. It will not make the noise if on full cold or full heat, only in between. I don't have the Automatic climate control. I can never get it a comfortable temp. It is either hot or cold. I'm gonna take it in for warranty work on this because it sounds like a blend door problem. My question is, do they have to pull the radio to get to the door, because I have a Kenwood in there instead of the lame stock stereo. This started about 2K-3K miles ago. Thanks

The reason I ask if they take out the radio is that I have small spacers on the "Metra" install kit to make it even with the rest of the dash and I don't want them to take out the radio and lose the small spacers that came with the kit. I may have to remove the radio and dash kit and attach the spacers permanently before letting the dealer make the necessary repairs.

My 08 does the same thing, I was thinking of taking it in and having it looked at, let me know what you find out, and I'm in the same boat with the radio.

Take it in I think it is a blend door that needs to be replaced. It is on national backorder though... so get on the list.

That what I was thinking it was since it only ever did it when the temp was set not at one extreme. Thanks for the info

Did you use a wire harness to connect your radio to the stock harness? If so, all they would have to do is unplug it. I used an aftermarket wire harness so I'm not worried about that. It's the spacers I don't want them to lose. It's amazing how many blend doors are messed up and Ford won't even tell you about it in a recall.

Yes, I used the wiring kit also. The main thing I'm worried about is the spacers and the way I routed the rear camera/lcd screen wires. It took me forever to route them to look like the factory wiring....

Well I finally got around to taking it in to fix the blend door and to find out why the engine hesitates on cold mornings. It backfired on me three times in a row the other morning. I'm hoping to get it back later this evening. I'll get back with yall and post what they found out.

Well, I got the truck back this afternoon without the blend door being fixed. Their A/C guy was out sick today and they weren't going to tell me until I went there late this afternoon to see how far along they got on it. It was going to sit there overnight and still no gaurantee it would have been fixed the next day. I'll try again next week. As far as the hesitation and backfiring goes, they "found" some things that were "loose" and tightened them up and readjusted the fuel trim. I don't think they did anything because it still hesitates and dust was still on the air intake tube as if nothing was done to it. I found all this out after I got home. They won't get a good review from me.

Well I took it back in this morning to have the blend door fixed. When I picked it up this afternoon, I noticed it would only blow ice cold air even on the warm side of the dial. Needless to say I wasn't too happy. I left it there and maybe they'll get it right. I didn't purchase my truck there so I'm wondering if that has anything to do with them not fixing it right. I had heard nothing but good from this dealership, but after the last two visits, I'm not so sure if I'd take it back to them. Okay now I feel better after ranting.

It's the temp blend door that was being repaired. I hope they fix it today so it doesn't stay overnight. I hate being without my truck.
