E-Fans and A/C Control Options
E-Fans and A/C Control Options
Hello, I have installed the Flex-a-lite fan kit, and it all works fine. I have a question about the "proper" way to wire into the A/C control lines. I've done research on this site and other, and there is a bit of confusion on my part.
I've located all the necessary wires to tap into, just not sure which is the correct one.....
If I want the Fans running when the function swithch is turned to A/C, then I want the purple wire at the A/C pressure cutoff switch.
If I want the Fans running when the A/C clutch is engaged, I can tap the Blk/Yellow wire at the top of the A/C clutch diode.
Or should I tap in between those 2 locations at the red/yellow wire after the A/C pressure cutoff switch?
1) Do I want the fans running all the time the A/C is turned on, or just when the A/C clutch is engaged?
Pros/Cons of each?
Oh, if it matters, truck is a 2001 F150 2WD
Thanks

I have mine setup to run when the compressor cycles (clutch engages) or tapped into the signal wire as they say. Mines grey with a white stripe I believe. I tapped into this below the fuse box. I like how it works, seems factory this way. Most cars from the factory have this, so it seems normal.
Mine is set up like BLUE20004X4's. I am going to install a toggle switch in the cab in the A/C signal wire to the controller, though. I want the faster warm up in the cold weather without the fans running and the defroster on.
You're right BLUE, it was a gray/white wire on my truck too.
The wiring diagram I have says it's black/Yellow.
That is kinda strange that the A/C compressor runs when the function switch is set to defrost. Anyone know why that is, or found a way to modify the switch to not do this?
I'd rather not wire in a shutoff switch in case some else is driving, and they don't know about the switch (if I left in the off) position.
Thanks

But, whatever makes you happy!
