Heater blowing cool need some advice and help
Hi everyone, I just purchased a pre-owned 98 xlt 2 wheel drive. I also just joined the forum so thanks for the great forum.
I bought the truck when the weather was still warm and never thought about checking the heater. Luck would have it that the cold weather is moving in and I went to turn the heater on and nothing warm about it. I wanted to pick everyones brain, did some searches but wanted to post my question.
My temperature gauges are all normal, everything running fine. I turn the heater all the way up and get nothing but cool air. I was hoping you guys could give me some opinions on what scenarios I am looking at. Starting with the slightest all the way up to the most complicated. Not sure where to start or if there could be several options to look at. I would appreciate all the help I can get. Starting to get chilly outside.
Thank You

Most common failures are either the temperature control **** breaking and/or the temperature blend door breaking. Pull the control **** off the switch and see if it's split, not allowing the switch to turn. If that's okay, then the temperature blend door is probably broken. Search this forum for more info.

I think I'm having a similar problem to Gatein. My heater sometimes blows cold air when set to heat but I've found if I slowly move the temp **** back and forth a bit I can get the heat to come on. When set the temp stays where it was set. What might that be? The damper door or the switch?
