Red face I'm an idiot

After having my truck just a few short days, I was headed north on I-5 when in typical SoCal form somebody ahead of me stabs the brakes and the chain reaction begins. when I hit my brakes the nose of course dives and all the change from dinner at Wendy's drive thru last night slides out of the tray on the dash and into the defrost vents. do I have to tear apart my whole dash to get it out? Please tell me there's an easy way or am I stuck with change in my vents? :o

Maybe that's the wierd vibration in the dash at idle?

Lesson Learned: The tray is for sunglasses, not change. Change goes in the cupholder!!!!!

There's been a small pencil sliding around my dash for 5 years now taunting me. I've just been too lazy to disassemble half the interior to remove the upper dash to get it. Maybe your change vibrations will drive you to tear it apart. I don't know of any other way.

Good Luck!

I think eventually it will. $0.65 will cost me $300 worth of labor eventually. Just knowing it's in there bothers me. Even though it doesn't make any noise or slide around, I sometimes just can't let well enough be. We'll see what happens when the new wears off.

That took me about 20-30 minutes to pull out. I was laying an AUX in line so i can plug any 2.5 mm headphone jack into my headunit, IE MP3 player.

If money was more magnetic, i would suggest taking that much off, then using one of those magnetic wands to fish them out.

Other option is roll your truck over in reverse and they should come right out

I had this happen to me and i dumped about 6 bucks in change into my vents.
Every bump was like hitting the atm for about 6 weeks, still have no idea if its all out but no rattles.

You think I should purchase gap insurance before I try this method?

Funny because I used to love to see all that silver up there but now I love to look at this instead.

Check out my gallery to see more photos of my custom cut dash tray to recess my XM.

Can you get a long skinny rod and attach some duct tape to the end (sticky side out). Just a thought. I have used this method to retrieve other non magnetic items from other places.
