Manual HVAC to Auto HVAC

Is it possible to switch my 1999's manual HVAC controls to an auto control unit? I think this would be pretty cool to do. What parts would I need to do this?

I thought of this to. I was thinking of taking a house hold thermostat, and wiring that in, the only problem i've run into is unless u get battery operated, they run on 24v. And i don't want to buy one to see if it will work, and find out it won't.

Not a house-hold thermostat, but one form like a Navigator or a Lariat.

Well it seems that we have a few people interested, but nobody is helping. We need a Ford Tech guy like Quintin to get in here and let us know if this will work. I'm searching for part numbers....

When I had my ranger, I looked into doing this type of swap. All in all it was possible but was VERY involved and there was what seemed like hundreds of pieces that you would need to get.

The F-150 and Ranger are two VERY different trucks, the Ranger was never available with FACTORY automatic climate controls. The F-150 was. What we are wondering is that if those of us with manual climate controls can just plug up an automatic unit with little to no modifications.

The ranger was never available with it but the exploder was, and the dashes are almost identical. Here is one of the links that a guy used in getting a general idea of how to do the swap. I know it is in a crown vic but it will give you an idea of what all was involved. eatc

I want to go the other way on this. I have an 06 F150 Screw lariat w/ electric climate control and I hate it. I want to swap it out w/ a manual set up. Anyone ever done this?

Thanks!
