New Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD
One last question, I've watched that video about a dozen times. Where does the black wire (assuming its a ground) on the harness on the truck side go. I saw that he grounds the relay ground to the ground on the harness on the radio side, but no mention of the truck side.

Had to run out of town to meet an employee who had a tool die....gave me 5 hours to play with it. Bought The Hangover and listened/glanced on the way home....funny as hell!
Couldn't be happier with this HU, the install is VERY easy and quick as well. Just wish the factory speakers sucked less....
sd card slot is behind the face plate, same with the cd slot, it rotates down to put either in. usb is in the back but they do give you an extension cable if you want to put it in say your glove box or something
ahh... genious

I am looking into this unit, but I have a few questions.
First, is there a way to turn off the chirp everytime you push a button? I like the way my factory unit is silent.
Second, can I use the buttons on the front to seek songs and folders.. or do I need to use the touch screen. I like the way my factory unit feels and I do not need to take my eyes off the road to change songs.. I can feel the buttons.
Third, can I switch the unit to dim or not display most of the illuminated screen graphics? I do not want to have a bright display that would distract.
Thanks

[2] Yes and no. You can change songs that are within the folder or if you have "play all" selected it will move to the next song on your ipod or sd card jumping from folder to folder. You can also change stations.
[3] If illumination wire connected it is dimmer but overall the unit isn't bright however if it's to bright there is a "mode" button on the left which turns off the entire display and leaves only the volume, channel, mute bottom buttons lite.
Personally, I can't see anything wrong with this unit and add-ons are unlimited (bluetooth, sat radio, ipod, nav, etc etc).
[1] I sat in my truck last night and read the manual and played with every feature and there is no disabling the beep.

I just spoke to a local install shop to see what units he has available for me to look at. he said "I do not have any double din in stock"... first red flag for him (what kind of shop does not have a decent showroom). He mentioned that the AVH series are junk and the microprocessors crap out, the unit freezes in humid weather and that a Kenwood would be the better choice for me. I think he is an authorized Kenwood shop.. and was trying to sell the Kenwood brand pretty hard.
I guess my main concern is will the Pioneer meet all of my wants.
I do not want an over complicated unit to operate while driving. My habbits now are to jump thru my 6 disk changer and cycle folders and tracks.. I know the buttons by feel and can accoplish it in one or two button clicks.
How about the steering wheel controls for this unit? I have an 05 FX4 with 6 disc mp3 and do not have any wheel controls other than cruise. Can i upgrade my controls to work the Pioneer? If so.. is the beep eliminated when using those controls and can I cycle thru tracks and folders? Is there an aftermarket solution for this or a nice remote for this unit?
Sorry about all of the questions.
