Hey! I really want to get the P4200, when you bought yours off of crispdeals did it come with everything needed to install? Cause I was thinking about taking it to bestbuy to get it installed but i dont want them trying to get me to buy all of their install crap. did you have to buy anything besides what came with the crispdeals package?

no it doesn't come with everything. you need the mounting kit (the plastic part that the unit mounts to that allows it to mount in your truck) and the wiring harness for direct plug and play. it's very simple to install

Question for you guys that installed the 4200 with a backup cam, do you have the option to view the cam when not in reverse?

I have a generic cam hooked up to the brown cam connection and it works perfectly off the reverse signal... but it appears from the demo mode and the manual that there should be a reverse touch screen button in the top menu which I don't have.

supermanx,

There is an option for that. I think maybe you have to go to settings??? I've done it, but it's been a while. But it's there somewhere.

[QUOTE the dvd playback isn't suppose to work while driving, it's suppose to be connected to the parking brake but you can either buy a bypass on ebay or make your own, there is a youtube video showing how to make one that allows you to watch a movie while driving. i did this just because it was easier than trying to tap into the parking brake wire.[/QUOTE]

can anyone post a link to that? i installed my last HU, but that part has me stumped, was thinking about taking it somewhere to get installed as well.

hope that helps. its pretty easy to do if you buy a relay or even the bypass on ebay.

This post is where I got the wiring diagram for my "bypass" install. It's simple and it works great.

Thats the guide I went off of when I did mine. It worked great after I did something dumb. You have to make sure that you get the right relay though. I thought I would be smart and instead of driving 15 miles to Radio Shack I would go across the street to The auto parts store. Got a relay by gosh it looked the same so it had to be right! NO! I wired it all up turned it on and you could here that relay just a clicking 90 to nothing. My dvd player started having a seizure. well come to find out I looked at the package and it was a turn-signal relay. Well I felt dumb and finally went and got the right one from radio shack. :o Worked great

Does anyone know what gauge wire he is using, all i found at Radioshack was 24 gauge intercom wire. Will that work?

It's probably 18 gauge wire from the looks of it

One last question, I've watched that video about a dozen times. Where does the black wire (assuming its a ground) on the harness on the truck side go. I saw that he grounds the relay ground to the ground on the harness on the radio side, but no mention of the truck side.

I vote this to be the most expensive message board on the planet

I ordered one of these last night after reading this thread, and drinking some crown royal. I don't like too much of aftermarket head units (I am getting old), but these look incredible in there and if not for the "pioneer" logo, I'd swear was OEM.

Can't wait to put it in!!!!!
