Anyone have any experience with getting your factory radio repaired?

Who do you recommend?

Usually not worth the money. For similar or a little more money an aftermarket unit can be had with much for features. If you are dead set on keeping a stock unit, find a used one on craigslist or ebay or the classified section here.

We already aftermarket HU's...would like to have the factory unit repaired so when we trade the truck we can put the stock unit back in.

My stock 6cd/mp3 changer head unit (from my 2006 f-150 Screw) was broken since a while so a bought a Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD to replace it.
But i've decide to also get my stock unit repaired.
The CD changer mechanism was replaced since it stop working and was displayin "CD ERROR".
I took it to FORTIN AUTO RADIO. That's near my place here in Montreal (Canada).
Cost me 350$ canadian. I know, it costly but i wanted to keep my stock head unit in working order just in case i sell the truck someday (i will remove the aftermarket unit and put back the factory one)

You can get working stock units on here or eBay for $25-100 depending on the model... pointless to repair in my opinion for that price.

I had a 94 F150 Scab and the radio would start to cut in and out. It had the premium sound systen in it so I didn't know if it was the radio or the amplifier. I bought a Kenwood head unit and bypassed the amplifier. The sound quality was much better than the stock setup. When I traded in the truck for my 07 Screw I pulled the Kenwood and put the old radio back in. I was going to tell the dealer that the radio had just quit working. I lucked out because the stock radio worked just fine. I traded the truck in and now it's somebody elses problem. I put the Kenwood headunit in my 07 and replaced the stock speakers and the sound is soooo much better.

Very good point. The stock HU's are more or less "disposable." It is cheaper to buy one than to get one repaired.

This is usually what goes bad, just make sure you check your part number before ordering.

Not unless an object hit the radio and destroyed the glass and board that is right there.

And by object, I mean like a 2X4, or a fist?
