To get the top off you need to take the bezel off anyways and 2 screws on the top I think on either side of the air bag light.

1) Open the cup holder
2) Gently pry both the left and right lower edges of the bezel that cover the radio and environmental controls. Note: there are six metal clips on the bezel. Two on the bottom, two along the sides of the radio and two at the top of the bezel.
3) Using a small flat bladed screw driver unclip the airbag light.
4) Allow the bezel to hang from the wires to the environmental controls.

is this it?

Pull the entire dark gray trim piece that surrounds your stereo, heater controls, lighter, etc. It takes quite a tug but it will come off without breaking anything. Just pull both sides evenly beginning at the bottom, (both sides, down near the cigarette lighter) and work your way up.

As mentioned before, there are six clips holding it on. Your Hu will come out easily after that, likely held in by 4 screws. There is lots of room back there for installations, etc.

If your still not sure, do a search, someone posted pics on what to do...after the first time you'll get it, had mine off more times than I'd like to admit, and not a scratch on it!

By this time hopefully you've gotten to the wiring in the back ofyour headunit. If the picture you posted is the face of your truck (where your shifter is column mounted and not floor mounted) then you will have 8 clips holding the bezel, or face, in place. I found it easiest to start from the top, you'll feel a groove above the passenger airbag indicator in front of the dash tray. You can use your fingers to apply a bit of pressure and pry it out, then slowly work your way down the sides to remove the "bezel". Remove the clip connected to the airbag indicator, the clips connected to your a/c control, and the one for your cigarette lighter (it's generally recommended to disconnect the negative wire from the battery). Then you can use a socket driver to remove your headunit.
