Novice concerning aftermarket stereos

Title says it all. I would like something that plays the music I have loaded onto my home PC. Is this the MP3 that I hear about (and yes you can read old fart here). I am pretty sure I don't want to have to jack with a CD changer. Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.

Well most newer midrange model headunits come with either MP3 reader abilities. At the same time almost all aftermarket units have a aux input that you can use with a portable MP3 player.

Question you have to answer is how much money are you willing to spend on a headunit and are you currently happy with your current sound system.

Sound quality means a lot to me. How much on a head unit??? As little as possible, but realistically, up to 300.00. I definitely want to upgrade my speakers, don't know about a subwoofer (if I should go with one or not).

I listen to country, rock, pop, occasionally classical, very little rap or hip - hop.
Thanks,
Craig

you can get a really good unit for 300. Some have places on the front to load a SD card or thumb drive. That would be great for music also. Then you don't have to waste money on CD's.

Just go check out best buy or go to crutchfield.com and have a look.

Crutchfield dosen't have the best prices but they are very helpful.

fyi, if you just record the cd w/out specifing that it be burnt as a data cd, you will only get about 20 songs per disc. if you change it over to data cd, hundreds can be burned onto a cd. i know i recorded one cd with 4-5 different albums on it, and it was still under half used.

both of these are excellent upgrades for the F150, i have both along with a factory sub and it gives me great performance.
