Unhappy "Bad" CD?

My head units just started spitting out burned cd's. It will display "Bad" CD. Is this a sign of a faling head unit? It will do that to new and old cd's. Some stay in the internal changer for several weeks then all of a sudden..."Bad" cd. What gives?

My cd player did this a few months ago. After about 2 weeks of doing this it took a dive and i had to get a new one. The OEM units are crap, just go get yourself a nice aftermarket one.

I've had the same cd STUCK in mine for a couple months now. When I push the eject button it moves around and then says "NO CD" and quits.

The OEM player on my 03 crapped out last summer, I did a bunch of research on how to fix it, pulled the unit out and tried to fix it myself, nothing worked.

Unfortunately, the others mentioned it already, these OEM stereos are a POS. The good news is, you can usually find replacments pretty cheap on EBay if you want to go that route.

Also, you can sell your broken one for a half way decent price also. I think I got $50 for mine. The 04+s stereos seem to be more plentiful than the 97-03s, so while you could probably pick up a replacement one for a good price, you might not get that much on your defective one if you decide to list it on Ebay.

I said screw it and just bought a good aftermarket one with an Aux input function so I could play my MP3 player. I don't even use CDs anymore. Sorry to hear about your stereo, but you've got a few options.

The OEM on my 05 started doing that at 30k. It started with saying they were bad if I would leave them in after I turned the truck off then when the unit powered up again it would say they were bad. It got progressively worse until I got annoyed to the point where I got an Kenwood DNX5120
