or the person didn't know how to install it correctly, got frustrated and decided to take it back but most places should give you the same warranty as a new item...

Usually the open box items will either be in a glass case or table in or near the dept. or they will have them in the wherehouse.. just ask the salesperson if there are any openbox items available

How could you judge a nationwide retailer based upon the small sample around your area? It all depends on the installer's work ethics, some people will say F it.. it works! but there are the one's that will actually go the extra mile to make sure that not only the product works, but that the customer is happy as well. It seems that the customers coming from your local circuit city had installers that lack the skills to keep a customer and probably lack in proper install knowledge. The CC customers have the option of going back to any CC to get their install problems looked at free of charge.

Oh the old Circuit City v.s. Best Buy war. Man I miss those days.

I used to be Road Shop Manager for three Circuit Citys here in Kansas City nearly 10 years ago. One of which is closed now. Times have changed and gotten tougher since I run those bays and sales floors. I worked for them for 3 1/2 years....left to manage Best Buy for 6 months.....then got called back to Circuit City which I worked for another year and got tired of it. Turned into a Circus City with all the new management they would shuffle around and structure changing every few months. Always got the calls from Best Buy installers trying to throw an install in our face if they had to work on one of our installs and we would do the same...lol Was just part of the war. Miss the good ol days.

It's gotten pretty bad, Roadshop doesn't even exist anymore, they merged us with their new fling "firedog"
We get along with our Blue Box over here, there's an old roadshop installer over there and some cool guys that don't mind helping out, and us here at CC do the same for them but yeah times have changed even in the short time that I've been doing this

Yeah, I was just given you circuit boys a hard time, didnt mean anything personal. And when I said Dual = Xovision, I ment quality wise. But anyways, we get along pretty well with the CC in our shopping center pretty well, its the other ones that send us all their problems. I dont really have a problem sending a customer to circuit to get a double din dash kit since we never have the things in stock.

I feel you guys with the firedog thing. They classified us as Geek Squad over here.

BTW, real installers dont use smart harnesses ; )

Whats funny is we usually have the best prices around compared to any mom and pop shops around where I am, especially ones like audio express, the home of the $1 installation, or as we like to call it, home of the $1 wire fire. Plus we have knowledgeable salesman and certified installers, unlike a lot of places that can just pull people off the street and throw them in the car.

What systems are you looking at? I must say, Id ditch the 7.1 and get the klipisch quintent SL, with a harmon and kardon reciever. Doesnt get much better then that.
