Slingshot and all you other guys that are going to Ennis!
outnumbered,
I was out there on Friday. I saw two HD's that were running low 14's. The track prep was awful. They were both smoking the tires for the first 60'
I was hoping to make it back out there again but some stuff came up at the last min.

Oh no, I hope the prep is better tommorrow.
Come on guys let me know what the track was like today.
If its average Ennis prep, then smoke'em if you got 'em.
I really dont want to waste $60 bucks to race on a ice rink.
It was hard when I had a 350 rwtq Mustang, let alone a 475++rwtq truck.

GT-40,
Try this before you go: take the air pressure in your tires down to 24psi; at the tree, hold your rpm's at 1300-1500; when the last yellow illuminates, let off of the brake, as soon as the truck starts rolling get into the throttle. You'll know after your first run on how quickly you can apply the gas.

Frustration nation...
Track prep? What track prep? I never saw any VHT sprayed down except before the Pro 5.0 guys ran
. My goal was a 13 sec timeslip... it was not to be
.
Get this: first pass I braked and brought the revs up to 1100 with 28 lbs of air... just sat still and spun, had to back completely out of the throttle and the ease back into it--big bog, lost all boost--didn't matter, immediately started spinning again--oh well. 2.54 sec 60' time and a 14.24 @ 98.5. Second pass--25 lbs of air and braked to 900 rpm, tried to roll into the throttle very gently. Same result. Blew the tires off and had to back out. 2.35 sec 60' time and 14.02 @ 99.6. Those runs were Friday AM TNT--only cool air we had--about 75 degrees with 1100 ft air... it got hotter after that.
Next run was qualifying Saturday afternoon. Low 80's, 1500 ft air. Again no prep. 25 lbs of air and no power braking, took the cover off. Idled out and rolled into the thottle gently. Minimal wheelspin but minimal power production as well. Truck ran hard on the top end and ended up with a 14.06 @ 100.9 with a 2.30 short time.
Last chance Sunday in the Top Truck Shootout. Drew the JDM truck from New Jersey in the first round (what luck!). 89 degrees, mid afternoon sun, no prep (starting to see a pattern here?). Took tailgate off, left spare in. Idled off the line, rolled in a little more agressively on the throttle... 2.24 sec 60', 14.001 @ 98.3. Gave it my best shot. Just came up short... about 2/1000's short to be exact.
The good news is that the '93 ran a 11.71 @ 119, I didn't break anything and got home safe. All in all a very fun time--got to look at some very impressive machinery, ogle some very expensive parts I am lusting after, watch a new Pro 5.0 ET record being set, and last but not least--got to make a lot of new friends.

Yelp, I heard that the track was hooking only marginally better than a normal street night. So I saved my money and did not go.I am looking at what type of tires or slicks I am going to get.
A 2.0X is the best 60 ft I have ever had there. And that was still not matting the gas until 40 feet or so.
So did you see any other HD's there ?
Looks like we are all still 6-8 tenths behind cobrasvt.

Maybe. Ennis was a 6 1/2 drive for me... each way. I will be slower out here--higher altitude. Am planning on running the FFW at Baytown though... hopefully get some better conditions there. I really think the truck has a 13.60-13.70 (or better) in it at sea level with cooler weather and decent track prep.

Make us proud!
