Good Deal on 02 HD in Texas?
SilverBullit,
I got mine over at Don Davis Ford. I also traded my L in for a HD.
They were pretty fair about the trade. I also got the HD for X-plan plus a 1K rebate.
You may want to check with them.
Where do you live in Arlington?
I live on the south-west side.

Oh, and the price on mine was WAYYYY below "invoice", Covert bought 24 of them at once, so their cost was considerably lower than usual!

I didn't realize the dealer got a volume discount from the manufacturer. You sure that's right. He may be selling them cheap to move them. 24 is a lot of HD trucks for one dealer.

It was explained to me that when a dealer takes an unusually large # of a certain vehicle, the manufacturer gives them like a 3% kickback on each one, so technically, the dealership pays invoice on the vehicle, but then gets a check handed right back to them as a kick-back. That may/may not be the case, but that's how it was explained to me.

Scot, what the dealer was explaining is something called "holdback" This money is paid on every car they sell. The manufacturer pays this to the dealer when they sell the car. The holdback amount is different on every vehicle, but the F150 holdback is 3%. This has nothing to do with a volume discount. The dealer can order 1 or 100 and each time he sells one, he gets 3% from the manufacturer. This holdback money is to help the dealer with their floorplan. A floorplan is where the dealer pays a monthly payment to the manufacturer for each vehicle sitting on his lot. The holdback is supposed to cover 3 months worth of payments. SO, if the dealer can move the vehicle within 3 months, he makes more money because of the holdback. If the vehicle sits on the lot for more than three months, then he has real out of pocket money in that unit.
