Question 2002 HD SuperCrew Gas Mileage

Would you guys be willing to post your gas mileage you are getting with the Supercharged motor. They post 12/16 in the sticker. Are they really that low? I can't imagine the supercharger taking that much more gas, unless of course the right foot stays mashed against the floor board.

Thanks,
RickC

Yep, same as BigIke. I've heard if you put a chip in it or some sort of computer mod you can improve your gas mileage/performance.

Somewhere in this forum a while back I read about someone that did it.

Man, they're nice trucks, but the mileage sucks.

I get about the same horrendous gas mileage. I still wouldn't change it for nothing. Cost a little more than a "stock" F150 5.4L but the looks, driving experience, and headturning makes it bearable

You don't buy one of these for gas mileage. Plain and simple. Just like you don't buy a Harley-Davidson motorcycle for gas mileage or fuel economy.

Although, you could buy a Harley to balance out the gas mileage of the F150-HD

Kinda like that saying...if you gotta ask the price (or in this case the mpg) then you probably shouldn't be buying one.

Just my 2 cents.

I don't get it. I have 33" tires and a few mods and I only get 10 MPG in the city. You guys with superchargers get 11+ mpgs.

I just got a 2002 Grey #750 and after 6200 miles averaging 13.8 mi/gal. That is 12 - 13 in town and as high as 15.8 highway. Totally stock at this time, would like to put in the superchip and see how much it improves.

Didn't buy the HD for gas mileage, if that is important, guess you need to keep looking.

I didn't say it was important, was just curious if the window sticker was accurate. They are usually on the low side. But, the mileage still sucks. However, I do understand the 3 mpg less it gets compared to the regular SuperCrew is worth it, by all means.

If gas mileage is a big concern then you should also keep in mind that you should run premium gas (91 octane or better) in it too as recommended by Ford.

If you're on a budget and looking to get one of these beauties keep that in mind and plan accordingly.

Smile 02 HD supercrew gas mileage

I have a four pound lower pulley, AF1 intake, flip chip, Denso 22's and magnaflow muffler on my 02 HD. Highway mileage has increased from 13 -14 to 16 - 17 with a high of 17.6 at 75 - 80. Town mileage is now 13. I couldn't be happier.

Swede, did you find much difference in sound from the stock HD muffler to the Magnaflow? Which muffler did you choose, the one with 2.5" dual inlets and outlets? How about he AF1, what is the sound like from this? I am considering mods similar to yours soon.

From: Tampa, FL, or Memphis TN... depends.
There and back again.

Late last night we just got back from a round trip to Sarasota, Florida (from Memphis, TN).

FYI: I drove through AL and MS which is a "hilly" area. Florida if you don't know is flat as a board. We drove through some small towns where the speed limit was 30-50, but most of this is highway. On the Highway our moving AVERAGED 74 MPH going, and 71 MPH comming home (overall average including stops going/comming was 66/62 MPH respectivly).

Per our GPS it said my wife topped out the HD at 174.9 MPH!!! A GPS "hickup" I am sure!

I topped it out at 122 MPH at one point-- which with the long sting of cars I passed believe it is a true speed.

Anyway, I kept pretty good logs... here is the info:
