welcome to the site jonrauch, i'm sure you'll like it here. VERY informative. Congrats on your HD, post some pics when u can. What number is it??? Anyway as Mystery Fan said, the guys who have the 00 HD with the special edition leer cover (me) that came with the truck has some problems with it. Nothing that bad though. It fits GREAT, finish is GREAT and design is GREAT. only problems is with the adhesive, the front seal fell off on mine, and a couple other guys cover is separating cuz they didn't use a strong enough glue. Not hard to fix though, and i'm sure they are using better adhesive now. Anyway, my friend has a black 02 HD and he just got his leer cover. Its got a bump in the middle kinda like the ARE does, but it extends all the way back. Looks and fits great, except for the latch has a little metal loop thing that sticks out so you can close the cover. But other than that it looks great. I'll get pics next time i see him. I'm sure you guys will love the cover when you get it. It also sticks up kinda high, but it looks great and covers the bedcaps.

Here's a couple pics of my 00's limited edition leer cover that came stock with the truck for no charge. Yours looks a little different, but i can't resist.

no charge? did you look at your window sticker really good?
the cover was included in the price of the truck.

LoL, I knew some one would bring that up. I just went out to the truck and got the sticker out of the Glove box just to make sure, and the cover isn't listed on there at all, even under the Harley package and what it includes or options. BUT, the cover was supposed to be on the truck when it was delivered, and since they were delayed in comming out, I guess that's why it isn't on the sticker. Anyway, since the cover wasn't ready when i took the truck off the lot, ford took 500 dollars off the price of the truck (probably close to what i would have paid for the cover if it was included), and gave the 00 HD owners a free 100 dollar jacket. So i would assume that if it was ready, the price would be around 600 dollars or more added for the tonneau or something like that. So if i did pay for it at all with the price of the truck, it wasn't listed on the sticker, and it couldn't have been very much at all. Hope that clears some stuff up.

clonetek, don't worry, i've got ya covered. i keep the original window sticker in the manual in the glove box, along with all the other info on the tonnneau and paper that came with the truck so i don't misplace them. BUT, i also scanned my window sticker, and laminated it, and its upstairs with my other HD brochures and posters for when i enter the truck in car shows. That way, if the sticker blows away or some a$$ takes it for some reason when its sitting on the windshield, its only a copy and i've still got the original. Ya think i should frame the window sticker and hang it up??? LoL

If i could get a pic of my 00 HD, someone's 01 HD, and both colors of the 02HD, and a L, all together in one pic, I'd get it enlarged like a poster and frame it and hang it up in my living room. The only hard part is finding some one with a 01, gray 02, and L, AND to get all 5 trucks together in one pic. I guess i could settle for my 00, my friend's black 02, and find someone with a 01. All black. :-D someday i will get a pic of the whole series

thanks for all the help guys. went from a 2001 Dakota R/T to the HD and wouldn't go back to save the world. still lookin to do a few mods (stereo, superchip, rear drop) and possibly some more expansive motor work (exhaust, pulleys, headers, injectors). if anyone has any good ideas let me know. also, whats the easiest way to upload pictures? not really into the whole computer thing.

Harley2001NJ, that would be awsome. My friend has a black 02 HD so they would all be black if it was all HD's in the pic. You can email me to discuss when and where we would be able to meet up. joshv_85@yahoo.com

Now we just need to find a black gen 2 L, heck and L cuz i wanna go for a ride, hey i just remembered that i know a guy with a gen 1 black L.
