Question Coil Pack 8???

Alright, called the shop today and they told me it was the 8th Coil Pack.. What exactly is the 8th coil pack. Is that something I can fix on my own? I am a newbie on working on vehicles, but how would you rate it on a scale 1 - 10? 1 being easy and 10 being super hard......A quick response would be appreciated.. thanks guys....

Actually I'd like to see the info that says the 4R100's are a problem. It's the 4R70's that seem to be problematic. The 100's are pretty robust. I'm assuming your HD has the 100. Not all HD's have the 100. If you have the 70 it makes sense. Versions of the 100 are used in the Lightning and even the PS diesel. If they can handle that, they can handle a non-blown 01 HD.

if its the way i'm picturing it, the 8th coilpack has gotta be a PITA to change, but again, i'm not totallly sure on this.

hope it all goes well

Cool Problem Fixed

Shop told me it was the 8th Coil Pack, so I went to the local library and grabbed a 2001 Helm book and looked it up and there it was in plain view and good instructions to replace. Went to a local orielly picked up a Coil pack and replaced on my own. Truck is riding smooth again!!! Even though the diagnostics ran $75 at least I learned how to work on coil packs and saved some cash. I am thinking about investing into a ODBII reader.. Thanks guys for the info you have given me.....Oh by the way there was water in the coil pack.....

Unhappy Here we go again......!!!!!!!!!!!

All right I give up. Today I decided to take my truck in for a tranny flush. Instead i get a phone call with them telling me that when they dropped the pan they found accumulator piston springs and other metals. Now they say they have to over haul the tranny. Instead of a $139 flush, I come out with a $1,430 estimate. Sheesh I give up....... BTW I made it to 70,000 miles...

I would like to know how, if they found accumulator parts in the trans pan, you were able to drive it in. Your transmission is dead as a doornail if the accumulator comes apart.

Sounds like somebody is blowing smoke up your A$$!!
