Unhappy What to DO??????

Alright went and took my 2001 HD into the shop today because my transmission started to make some thumping noises when I stopped. When I accelerated it would jerk a couple of times. So I take my truck back to the dealership hoping it could be fixed withing 10hrs, then I got out of work and they tell me they don't know what the problem is, but at least they know its the transmission. The truck accumulated 28,000 miles in one year. All the vehicles i have owned never tripped on me like that before. Sheesh my 86 Regency Olds never had a transmission prob. The question is "should i keep the truck and give it another chance or should I return it and get something else (Ford)". I need all suggestions... Thanks for reading this thread....

Wink

If you like your HD I would give the dealer a chance to fix or replace it. If you've lost confidence in the truck I would sell it and get a new 02 HD, or hold out for the 03's.

Unfortunatley, The 4R100 does not have the best track record. You can look through all of the forums on this site, and you will find that the weakest link in many of the Ford trucks is the transmission.

My Transmission on my 2000-HD did the same thing last year around this time. I just happened to be up North where I bought the Truck and took it to the dealership right away. They replaced it with a new one under warranty without any trouble. I have not had any problems since.

Alright! Now I scared!

I don't want any issues whatsoever!

I just replaced both the driving lights about a month ago and I already have a cracked lens on the passenger side...

Can't win!!!

Unhappy Here we go AGAIN!!!

Well it has happened again. I was just driving home from work and I took off at a red light and my truck started to jerk, then at 40mph, talk about hiccups and then I tried 70mph damn I thought i lost my transmission. So I drove all the way home at 30mph. Man this sucks. I better take this truck to the shop. Should I give the harley a second chance on a transmission rebuild??? sheesh.......

Hmm...I say try one more time(it is covered under warranty) and then get a new truck. If it happens three times I think you can claim a lemon and they have to buy it back. I am not sure---maybe someone can clarify this. BTW...what are you doing to your truck to make it break so much?

Just Cruising

I use it to just cruise (no racing) and go to work. The only mods I have made to it was by a AirForce 1 and a Superchip. But that was installed about 8000 miles back before the crap out. Oh yeh how do i claim a lemon? Never heard of this.....BTW I dropped the truck off this morning. Took the chip out last night. Hopefully these folks dont give me no boooochit. Somehow they are going to tell me its the intake.. who knows.....Oh yeh The truck is still under warranty. When it crapped out at 28,000 they added 12,000 on top of the 36,000 mile warranty.......

Question questions

Alright talked to the shop and they told me they only drove the truck and they say its engine knocking (??). They told me over the phone that its not the transmission. They say they will run diagnostics tomorrow ($75) and let me know what it is for real. Alright here is my question, Is the extra warranty they gave me supposed to cover the whole truck or just the transmission, if so do you think these guys are trying to screw me over somehow? Are they trying to blame the engine and avoid the transmission area? How should I go about handling the issue? Please help... all advice is greatfully appreciated..... Thanks guys...

Warranty

The new warranty they gave you is for the new part installed and only covers that part or problems that the new part causes.

Hopefully you'll get everything worked out soon.

Also...

If you are really concerned with the diagnosis (read: honesty) from that dealership, take it somewhere else for a second opinion.

If you've got a mechanic friend, or a reliable reference, then take it there.

Only then will you be able to compare!
