*NEW* JLP 3" Drop Shackels!

i figured since JL didn't post it over here, and not everybody gets over to the L board, i'd post it over here.

Makes a bigger rear drop ALOT easier than doing hangers. although, not sure good it would look without a front drop also cuz with 2" rear drop shackles they look quite level. wouldn't want the rear to hang lower than the front, but still a good mod!

thanks JL! whenever i do a 1" front drop i'll be swapping out my belltechs for these....not sure how soon it will be though. LoL

Technical question here....

Before these came out, the 2" drop shackles were the norm. If and I say IF, the 2" rear drop might give an 02 driveline vibration then does it mean the 3" will definitely get the vibration?

I'll be installing my 2" rear shackles this weekend! Wohoo!

Ya know, it's pretty sad when the shackles were showcased on an HD but get announced on the L forum. I wonder if the tuners/suppliers will ever give the HD's any respect...

theres probably a bigger chance you would definately get some vibration with the 3" shackles since about 1/2 the guys with the 2" get it. nothing shims won't fix though

as for 3" rear drop and no front drop, it may be exactly level, but after you drive the truck a few days, its gonna settle in place a little more, like 90% of the guys who do shackes post that it did (cuz they post like "wtf my 2" shackles only dropped me an inch!" LoL), and i'd rather have the rear 1/4" bigger gap than the front when all is said and done, than the back a 1/4" lower. Just looks weird when the back is lower than the front. plus put a little weight in your bed and your sagging already.
just my .02$

all the 02's that i've seen in person with the 2" rear drop look plenty level to me, with maybe just a very VERY slight rake....like 1/4" bigger gap in the rear.

these would be perfect though going along with a 1" front drop

Have any thoughts as to what your shackles would do to the stance of a regular 4x2 SuperCrew? I know my XLT is higher in the rear (stock) than the HD truck (stock). Would love to get it level. What do you think?

I'm with Harley though. I know a couple guys that did a 2" drop shackle on their regular SuperCrews and ran into a lot of pinion vibration. Are you going to market shims for the guys that buy/install your shackles and 'do' run into some pinion angle issues?

One last comment. I don't know if I could put those shackles under my truck. They look too darn good to disappear up under the body!!

here's one thread about vibrations johnny

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...ight=vibration

seems the 00 and 01 with the single piece driveshaft are fine with no vibrations, but the 02's with the 2piece are more prone to getting it.

hmmm...i wonder how those shackles would look in chrome or SS

Heres a question....

How are the 3" drop shackles going to work on the HD with Traction bars? Is everything still going to line up? What about a different exhust system?

I have a list of everything to get done this year and Traction Bars, Drop shackles, Exhust are some of the mods.

I want to make sure that everything will play nicely together.

Johnny, most of the folks that have asked me for help with there vibration, had a low speed vibration/shudder when coming to a stop, when they start braking. I believe that without rotating the pinion back to 0 degree, the pinion is at -2 degree's after installing just 2 inch drop shackles. Braking then compounds the problem, because the pinion rotates down some additional - degree's due to the flex in the leaf springs and suspension. I think the 3 inch shackles may require a new 3 or 4 degree shim. As to why some don't experience this problem??? They may just not notice that it is there....good luck!

Johhny.... When I rode in my friend's 2001 Screw with 2" Belltech drop shackles installed, we found no vibration (i.e. noticable) at low speeds or stopping as richo noted. When the truck hit about 48 mph though, there was a major hum that came from the bottom rear of the truck that got worse as our speed rose. We took the shackles off that afternoon and re-tested the truck @ speed, and no vibration was noted. I think for some of us to use your new shackles (and I want to be one of those folks) we're gonna need some shims to correct the pinion.

Any thoughts after reading this?

I know you were one of the first to really focus attention on the HD's, and we appreciate that. I just get frustrated when I see that anytime there is a special, or new product it gets posted on the L forums, and not on the HD forums.

I realize that most of the L owners are a bit more hard core when it comes to modding their truck, but the HD guys are coming along.

All I ask is you throw us a bone evry now and then...

Is this before or after it settled?

Thanks!
