hey rob, would you think 295/40/R20's are too wide for the stock 9" HD rims? some have said yes, but there are about half a dozen guys on here who are running them with no problems yet. i'll need new tires next year, and i like the V tread pattern and slightly lower profile and wider look that they have on the goodyears in that size. just curious what the downside would be to running them on my truck.
if i shouldn't run them, i'll just get the eagle GTII's again cuz i do like them better than the GTII's that came on my truck with the new design sidewall pattern. thanks for any info

You'd have to measure the actual wheel for the width. If the stock Harley wheel is a true 9" from inside lip to lip than I wouldn't recommand a 295 mm tire. The sidewalls would stick out too much and you would feel a lot more roll going into turns.
However, if the wheels are 9.5" wide than a 295mm tire would be the widest maximum tire you could comfortably put on the wheel.
Wheel manufacturers have a tendancy to under rate wheel widths for some reason so that's why I ask that you measure the wheel before hand.

thanks for the info rob
now to find somebody who's got a set of HD rims without the tires on them so they can measure the inside width for me cuz i'll probably end up buying the tires online and getting them installed, so i won't be having the tires off the rims to measure any time soon.
thanks
anyway, yeah, are you still going with 20's on the HD? or are you getting 22's?
*edit* nevermind, we must have both posted at the same time
i agree, 20's look perfect on these trucks, 18's probably too small on such a big truck, and 22's would be the max, any bigger and its just too big and takes away from the looks of the truck

22's would be cool but I think I'll stay with the 20's. One thing I don't like is to have the wheels of a vehicle be the focal point. That's just my opinion though.

I guess I will find out in a couple of more weeks.
