Do 03 HD have 'enhanced' drive shaft?

The '03 HD literature mentioned an enhanced driveshaft balancing device. Can anyone with an '03 snap a pic? Sounds like this is Ford's answer for driveline vibration.

now you say something. i was just at the dealer today and they just got in a 03HD. i could have crawled underneath and taken a look and snap a pic

but i doubt anything has changed. where did you read that at? got a link? they are probably just referring to the two peice driveshaft cuz its supposed to reduce vibration and negative feedback or whatever.

Someone snap a pic of an 02' underside and I'll snap a pic of my 03' underside on Christmas day and we'll compare.

Supercharger = Vibration = Carrier Bearing on Cross Member to reduce driveline vibrations.

Simply said, Showya

It's the sixth 'bullet' down on the '03 vehicle specs page -

http://www.fordvehicles.com/features...hiclespecs.asp

"Two-piece driveshaft with new driveline vibration damper"

Why does a harley have a 2 piece driveshaft when the regular Supercrew's have a one piece? Seems the one piece would be stronger. Also looked like it was aluminum on the 03...

ShowYa,

Is this new on '03 and did not exist on '02?

And did material for driveshaft change from '02 to 03?

Thanks!

for reduced vibration and stuff like that. i think somebody said they put it on the HD's and not the regualr screws cuz the s/c would create more vibration or something like that

they are pretty strong though....haven't heard of anybody on here yet that broke one.

the 00 and 01 HD's had aluminum single piece driveshafts

The 2 piece was designed to reduce "NVH" which is noise, vibration, harshness (?).

According to the article I read, Dana produced the unit on fairly short notice just for the truck.

I would suspect that anything Dana put out would be superior quality, especially if they are going to allow it to be publically announced.

BTW, good to see you over here, ShowYa! I haven't seen you on this board for a while.

Ken

I think it's all silly. I would personally prefer the one-piece. I am sure the noise doesn't overpower the exhaust.

I am pretty sure it was done for 100 mph+ balancing. The reg. screws and f150 are speedlimited due to large one piece driveshaft.

We are speedlimited too but not till 130mph.

Anything over that would not be fun in such a large truck.

I just want to dump the two piece altogether for a one piece.

Has anyone done this yet?
