While talking to Matt about my own needs, I asked if he would be interested in offering us a Group Buy Discount. He offered us a great deal! This is intended as a do-it-yourself group buy and kit, and I can see setting up a specific thread to help participants with the install, but if you wanted to buy the kit and have a "pro" retrofitter do the work, there are plenty of them out there. 25% discount (with minimum 25 participants) on any Stage III complete retrofit kit. How it will work: We determine interest level and get commitments from members. Once we have enough to start the group buy, a discount code will be generated and everybody will order their kits directly from RFS. Also, I believe the oven trick doesn't work for the 2009-2011 trucks, they need to be cut open. I'll probably send mine out because of this and use a FX-R projector so that I can use a D2S bulb like my other vehicles use. If I had a 2004-2008 truck I'd use the mini H1 and do it myself without a second thought. Those lights can be opened using the oven trick. |

This is a DIY project... I am comfortable doing it on my 2011, but you should check out for yourself the process of doing it on earlier trucks. The MH1 in all likelyhood is the best bet for the older trucks as well though...

Oh well, i dont think my work/ timeline/ customers could wait for a group by to by fiinalized anyway. Im currently finishing up a 2010 Platinum and soon to get the parts for an 07 FX4. How did you get the lights open on the 2010 that you just did? Last I heard they had to be cut open but I've also heard that they will eventually open like the older models if you leave them in the oven for a much longer time. |
