Take a dark green Neon and paint the door handles, windshield wipers and hubcaps yellow? That's below bad taste!

Yesterday I saw some import sh*t box that was dark blue with a hand done racing stripe, maybe 4" or so wide running down the centerline of the car from hood to trunk. This thing had one windshield wiper that was right in the middle of the cowl. It was one of those WIDE ones, and it was painted white too. I bet when it's raining, it looks like his stripe is wiggling!

It's really a shame that that's all some kids can do.

I can't stand rice! And those fart-pipes...gimme a break!

Coming from the Sport Compact scene, I'll give you my take on it.
My SVT Contour was far from rice. All money went to handling and performance. Ok, so I tinted the windows, but black cars in SC get freakin hot!
Ricers are clueless kids. They want that "fast and furious" look with out all the hassle of real performace. Some of the "riced" out cars I've seen are just rediculous, with everything painted "highspeed" yellow, and the prerequesite fart can muffler.
After these kids get their tails spanked, they'll learn that you need HP and handling before that aluminum park bench on the trunk you call a wing hits it's optimum speed for downforce.
Anyway, my $.02

Talking Ricer HP?

But I thought those decals add 10 HP and the huge wing on the back was good for another 45 HP.

Maybe we're being a little too hard on ricers, after all, they are people too.
Look at the hard work and effort these people put in to make their ride stand out.

Yeah right! Muhahahahaha

Good Ricer Burn

Once upon a time, in a far off land called Maryland, A friend of mine with a Dodge Dakota (not the sharpest...)and a few modstried to get a ricer to race him. Well the ricer didn't want to play. So my friend gave up. But just up the road was a lightning towing a flatbed trailer with 4 four-wheelers and a dirt bike. Now the ricer thinks he has a chance against the wieghted L. The ricer got a car length on the l before the hammer dropped. The L wound up and passed the ricer like he ws going backwards. Now my friend drives up to the ricer (who is hanging ihs head in shame), and laughs. The L is gone off somewhere in the distance.

Maybe you guys can help me figure this out. Often times when I see a ricer (let's say in the color red) it has a portion of the paint "sanded down" and so there are a couple of blotches of just grey here and there, usually just on a portion of the car, say the trunk area or the right rear side.

What the hell are these things? I'm wondering is this some secret ricer code I'm clueless about? It looks like someone went to sand down to repaint, but then forgot. Typically, these people have a big huge muffler, or a large jumbo-jet fin on the rear, and I think to myself, rather than spend the money on that stuff, shouldn't you finish the paint job?

Has anyone else seen anything like this? Perhaps I'm the only one, just like with the black helicopters, and the aliens that show up in my backyard, tie me up, and stick turkey basters....errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...nevermind about that......

The reason they do that to their cars is because they see fast muscle cars that are primered, so they figure the primer/bad paint look will also add speed to their car along with the nos, k&n, and flowmaster stickers. Think about it, it's obvious.

NOS Sticker = 20 horsepower
K&N sticker = 15 horsepower
Flowmaster sticker = 15 horsepower

That's 50 horsepower right there. The primer/bad paint modification is an instang 65 horsepower, and easier then finding the stickers.

Honestly, I wouldn't have a problem with ricers if it wasn't for the one thing that they do that pisses everyone off. Around here (Philadelphia) there's a few 'meeting spots' where all the old muscle cars lovers and the young hot rodders come and hang out...usually on Sunday night. When one ricer drives by and sees it he brings his entire crew up the next weekend. They usually come in the parking lot revving their engines, blasting their systems, etc, etc. Then when they leave the parking lot, they leave trash all over the ground, they do burnouts before they leave, and of course the system is cranked all the way up again. If they would just have some respect there wouldn't be any problem. I have no interest in ricers or their cars, but if they had respect and understood that there's a time and place to do that stuff then I'd be fine with them. But instead they do that **** and get us kicked out of the meeting spot by the cops.

One thing I've noticed that's pretty funny is this....there are about 5 guys who have pretty fast Toyota Supras around here. 2 of them run in low 11's, the other 3 are respectably in the 12's. They get along with the muscle car guys just fine, and they never do the stuff I mentioned above when they come to hang out. They get respect from the muscle car guys because they own a fast import, and usually have put a lot of REAL work into the car.

To me, it's all about respect, and ricers have no respect for anything. Until they do, no one will have respect for them or their ****box grocery getters.

I got a ricer-related question, maybe you guys can help me out here. Its about spoilers...wings. I remember (way back when) when spoilers first came on the scene. There was the Kaam (sp) theory with the little lip on the back to disturb air flow and provide some downforce. Then there were the wings on John Hall's Chapparals (sp) to provide high speed downforce over the driving wheels so they could corner faster. Then the big fuel dragsters had wings, again over the driving wheels to help keep the slicks from spinning at high speed. Now we have the ricers...with front wheel drive. Shouldn't the wing be over the front wheels? I've seen fwd road racers lifting a rear wheel off the groung during high speed cornering, and it doesn't seem to slow them down. Those back wheels just kinda dangle back there anyway as everything important is happening up front. In a drag race using a fwd car, why would you want a rear wing to push the rear of the car down? Wouldn't that make you give up some traction? Does that make sence to anybody? I'd like to see someone with Photoshop modify a pic of a ricer so that the wing is on the hood where I think it belongs. Maybe this will start a new trend...who knows?

From what I have seen, the ricers do not ever seem to turn their cars (unless one of us want to race) so cornoring Gs are not a problem.
