Wittom, I'm here in Worcester, 40 miles from Boston and I hear the accent disappear about 20 miles west of us. Know people from Sturbridge / Holland who talk like the rest of you. As for TV anchors, the media does'nt want to use those dialects either. They want the All-American dialect. Likewise, Boston anchors don't have Boston accents either! I know an FM radio Disc Jockey who was born and raised in Boston and broadcasts here in Worcester. You'd never know he was from Boston!
