I just think the hard covers look sharper, cleaner.

Humm. . . not much good when you want to run out for a quick load of mulch on an early Saturday morning. I guess the husband would have to wake the wife, have to wait for her 'get ready', stop by the cleaners, maybe a quick stop at the mall. . . .

I guess what I'm saying is 'as good as hard covers may look they just aren't very practical for folks who have to use their trucks as trucks.' Otherwise may as well get an Expy, (but then I do have a F150 'company car'

In response to Petrol:

If you're already home, and know that you're going out for a load of mulch, you take the cover off before you leave the house.

See.. you're giving wives a bad rap. Either that, or I'm the exception. The weekends are for working around the house. I don't "get ready" to go buy mulch (which I bought this past weekend) and work on my yard. If I have to stop at the mall, I'm there for a reason, not for a fashion show.

Then again, I'm a natural beauty.

*lol*

PS - You can lift up the hard tonneau, fill up the bed with mulch, and drive home with the lid up - it cuts down on the wind.

Weekends are for working around the house? WTF? I'm glad I'm not married to her? My Bride would never dream of giving me a "honeydew" list on a weekend! Her time off is just as precious to her too! We work around the house needed.

Raoul, You have quite an impressive toy list!

Maybe you mis-understood me. I'm all for doing work around the house. I love working in my yard, mulching, mowing, trimmin the hedges. But I don't do it for the entire 48 hours that a weekend affords me. We have lotsa "play-time" as well. And I don't give my husband a honeydew list. Trust me, we're the laziest people you'd ever meet.

Habibi - Tell your wife to shut up and get over it. If she doesn't like it, she doesn't have to be seen in it... and go on your merry way and stay out for 3 nights playing poker. It'll at least make her forget about how mad she is about the soft tonneau.

Who's truck is it anyways?

Jenn, I stand corrected. Maybe you are my type of woman. If I ever give up my best friend, perhaps I'll look you up. I use to have quite the green thumb, best looking flowers in the neighborhood or so I've been told. That two-wheeler I bought over the winter has taken that time away from me. But hey, it's early yet, I still might do some planting (after Memorial Day around these parts)

You guys crack me up, lmao, guess that's why I love this site so much.
She's starting to get used to the tonneau now because all of her attention is diverted to the damage on the truck from the cap, and how the ARE dealer are giving us the run-a-round.

I am so mad, I could crush a grape!

I will have my day in court though, I have no idea how long this stuff takes because I never sued anyone before.
I am also writing a letter to the local newspaper, filing a complaint with the BBB, and writing a letter to A.R.E

I know it's not ARE's fault, but I still want them to know what kind of crooked dealers they have.

** btw, that poker game started on A fri night at6pm, and finished Sun afternoon at 2. It was my all time best record for poker duration, hehe. I don't think I could do that again.

um, not a very big one. Dang thing isn't much good at hualing lumber, mulch or making a run to the county landfill either

But then again my Expy does a much better job of hauling four or more people, gear and trailer on my many dirt bike/mountain bike/snowboard trips then the '99 F150 XLT SuperCab 5.4L with a capablity of transporting 3 cy of mulch as the bed is just a bit larger then 5'-4" in length (my daily driver that now has over 168,000 trouble free miles on the clock)

Yeah, the bed is kinda short.

Although I can fit 6 people in the cab. My front seat is a 60/40 leather split. My husband has 4 kids, so having the big cab is EXTREMELY useful. I don't haul much stuff around, the occasional grocery bags, bags of mulch, yard tools. No dirtbikes or refridgerators. Yet.

Just noticed that your from Woosta. I grew up in Sharon and Taunton. I have many relatives in Woosta.

Of course, everyone makes fun of my accent down here. Heh, down here, Maryland.

Well - I MUST question many of the replys on this thread.

1 - how could I put mulch in my bed? it would cover my tools, golf clubs & 5th wheel hitch.

2 - same for large screen TV AND how could I watch it while driving?.

3 - No way I could afford a cap AND a soft cover. (well I actually have a cap, but I wear it when driving).

4 - the hot tub is out of the question - I bathe once a month, wether needed, or not.

5 - Why does your wife care Habibi - do you make her ride back there?

6- There is not enough money in the world to allow a 3 day poker game. WHAT WERE YOU REALLY DOING HABIBI ?

In response to #2:

You can park it and charge admission and sell popcorn on the side. It's a travelling Drive-In.

Jenn, I have relatives in Taunton too! Also had a relative in Sharon, but he went to jail for it!

I noticed that you went for groceries too! Hope you did'nt forget the milk and bread!

Hell, I get shyt from people about my accent and I still live here! I think the consumer electronics industry is responsible for that. They attracted a lot of people to this area and that has changed the dialogue around here to more of the rest of the country. My Bride worked for Digital years ago and she lost her Boston accent and it appears to have affected my two kids. They don't have a strong Boston accent like I do. When I go to Florida, it is so much easier referring to my truck than my "cah", but I still get ribbed about my accent. And guess what they say. "Are you from New York?" Geez Louise, we don't talk like them at all!

They just don't understand. New Yorkers speak with an "aw" sound... we just totally drop any letter that sounds or looks like an "r".

I tend to think that I lost alot of my accent since I've been here, only three years. But people still pick it up. They have a ball with making fun of words I say such as "here". They also tease me about how fast I speak. I just tell them that they think too slow.

I refuse to say y'all. That's a big one around here.
