Question Anyone know about Land Rovers?

Came up on some troubles and it looks like i won't be getting a new F-150 for a while until some things happen, but i found a few Land Rover Discoveries (95-97)around here for prettty cheap. Anyone know anything about them? It's either that or a Yukon. Any suggestions?

I would go for the land rover, at least it's a Ford product. I don't know much about them other than there tough as hell and can hold there own off-road (for a stock vehicle). I always thought they were kind of plain and boxy looking though.

They look wierd. They are like the volvo of SUVs. The seats are horrible. I dont think they are dependable. Thats about it. I suggest getting an F150 TypeR!

I was looking at them for a while. I didn't like the fact of only one dealership in MN. And parts can add up. If you are on a road trip and you breakdown in the middle of ? Could really be a pain to get it fixed rite. With something American hell no problem. Check out some of the Rover boards. A rover would be nice.

I would definitely check out the service for these vehicles. Especially the service ratings and parts cost. I am not sure when Ford acquired Land Rover, but as far as being a Ford? I wouldn't count on it... The Jags now have the Ford drive-train in them, and the quality has dramatically increase from what I have read, but I don't know about the Rovers. Good Luck, whatever you do. Hey, are you interested in a 1995 Eddie Bauer Bronco? My sister is in Cincy and has one for sale.......

Those years mentioned had nothing to do with Ford. I think Rover was stilled owned by BMW at that time.

My brother has owned 2 (Still does) and my sister has one. The truck itself is made out of alloy so it wont rust. yeah they are funky but there isn't much out there that can match them off road. Their reliability is in question because they use and old GM V8 (a little one) they leak oil alot (even new ones)and they get real ousy gas mileage (les than my truck!) but they do run forever just keep a pan under it in your driveway and keep a few quarts on hand at all times.

Remeber if it breaks it's all GM parts (for the engine at least)

Good luck

Not bad vehicles as far as performance goes.

Ugly, overpriced, depreciate like a rock in water, hard to find parts, expensive parts, expensive service.

Original price on a Land Rover the same year as my '95 is about $12,000 more. Book value now on the Rover is about $1000 more. What a deal....
