What are your opinions on what an old engine is.

I was let down that my beater Chrysler turbo started to show some wear at 180,000 miles.

250,000 is starting to get old in my opinion. 300,000 you can start bragging.

 

IMO, 175,000 - 200,000 is getting into the problem prone area, 300,000 with little problems is definately time to brag.

 

Whatever mileage is showing after I make the
last payment!

 

Once you get over 150k everyday is Christmas!

 

With financing being so easy to get these days 30,000 is old to me. Actually I have never owned a vehicle that had gone more than 120,000.
In recent years I have traded up after less than 25,000.
When I was younger the cars I got already had a bunch of miles. They didn't last too much longer with me driving.
For work the vans I have had to drive have had as much as 200,000. They were junks by that point. I don't think I could brag in that case.

I have driven one new car to 75,000 miles (1989 Sable) and once traded a 1989 Aerostar with less than 9000 miles. My company however, runs fleet cars well past 150,000 miles and even more on trucks and vans.

 

My truck only has 120k miles and im not gonna be getting rid of it anytime soon, it's still too young ! To me, old is when it wont run anymore (due to old age or high mileage) and there's nothing you can do to fix it.

 

I think after 200,000, you're in the bonus round.

 

Years = old
Miles = used.

I think a vehicle is starting to get old after at least 10 years. It's used after at least 150k miles, or a slob owner who has not taken care of it.

 

this is how i think of it. every 1k miles=1 year for people. like a truck or car w/ 10k miles on it is like a 10 year old kid. so in my opinion, 75k-80k which=75-80 years old is old in my book.
