Just a dusting

We got a dusting here in Minneapolis where I live. Nothing more than that, most of the grass is still green.....More in the north suburbs where I live, than in the south suburbs where I work.
Grand Forks got 11 inches of snow....New October record for them.

figured it probably wasn't all that much for you guy's. the weather station showed that clip this morning. it looked like a pretty heavy shower with nasty wind to go with it. right now we're getting very light flurries with an average of 25 mph winds and spikes at almost 40.
grand forks huh? have to go check map quest and see what kind of road trip that would be.

Well...

I can tell you that it is roughly a 5 1/2 to 6 hour drive from Minneapolis. And that is with good roads, and traveling at 65 to 70 mph.....That is just the way that I go though, there might be a faster way out there.

I had about an inch on my truck this morning in Lakeville, but there is less on the ground since its still warm and hasn't frozen yet. The wind is a bear though!

This is the second batch of snow I've been in here in MN this year. We had around a half an inch back on October 5th -6th up at our cabin on Lake Vermillion. They had about three inches a week or two later that was the really wet slushy stuff that made the gravel roads slick. There were two jacknifed logging trucks on the road out after that storm. Not nice!

Ahh, winter is on its way...

yep, first snowfall here always brings lots of wrecks. it's like everyone forgets how to drive in it over the summer.

Anyone heard???

Has anyone heard how much snow they got around the Bemidji or Walker area? That is where I am planning on going hunting this weekend.
Gopher -
Too bad that this wasn't coming next weekend for the Minnesota Deer hunters huh? I am not into deer hunting, but have been thinking about taking it up sometime.
Oh by the way, I don't know if you go up to the White Earth Indian Reseravtion, or know people that go there, but tell them they might as well stay away from there, as there is no tresspassing for non-tribal members....They announced that this past Monday.....Just thought that I would let you know, or anyone else know that might be going there at anytime.

Yes, uphere in God's country we got 11.5 inches of snow yesterday Weds the 24. When I went to work at 620am I got to work at about 8 am, not bad for a 27 mi trip!!! I had to keep it in 4wd and no faster than about 35 mph, mostly 3rd gear. On the way home at 1130am I had it in 4wd and second gear and I almost still didn't make it!! It was a royal pain!!!!! Thank god for 4wd, a car would not make it.

No Problem on the reservation thing. Where we are is all state forest land - no problems with tresspassing there.

Deer hunting is a fun deal, and in our case a nice family activity. We have three generations of our family hunting right now. It makes for a nice get together in the fall! Besides, if you like venison, its the best way to get it!

It's gonna be a LONG winter here!

I'm in Buffalo, NY () & we're having a bad storm as I write. Rain, hail, thunder & lightning - winds in excess of 65mph - it's miserable out there! This is lake effect rain & tomorrow they are calling for snow. I'm not ready for 4WD yet - at least not in anything but mud!

Not so fast Donate54!

Gee Donate54 - I always feel bad for those who have never had the experience of snow so...come on up & help me shovel! What's that? You don't know how? No problem! Check this link - I wrote it for people who never had the pleasure of shoveling. Once you read it you'll be all set! BTW - I do have an extra shovel for you! LOL!

2) Grab a bottle of your favorite alcoholic beverage. This will be used to wash down your aspirin which you will take as a preventative measure. It is also used to numb the feelings of numbness you get after 3 minutes outside in double sub zero digit temps.

haha thats my favorite. well like i said before, ive never seen snow and i really want to see it, but i dont want to shovel it . i was thinking more along the lines of skiing or sledding...
