Anybody heard of 2by2.net?

my friend just joined this thing and is trying to get me to join. It looks like it may be a little shady. You pay $400 plus dollors to join, then you get two people to join then they get two people to join. for every two people that join under you, you get $60.
Anyone done this or made money off of this... I won't join, was just wondering if anyone out there had heard of it. They told my friend that it was really big on the west coast, but had just started on the east coast.

ask lightningsvtgirl, she's really into 2by2.net. I personally see it as MLM. The first few people in get rich, the rest get hosed.

If it sounds too good to be true..

it is! Sounds like a pyramid scheme - I believe they can charge people w/ Federal mail fraud as well as other charges. Plus, you can't sue to recover any $ lost. I'd be very careful!

PYRAMID SCHEME

pyramid schemes are not MLM opportunities although there are some similarities.

PYRAMID schemes are illegal, MLMs are not.

as a fraud investigator for the state of UT i see this garbage all the time. if you want some info on the differences between pyramid schemes and MLMs, check out http://www.commerce.utah.gov/dcp/education/pyramid.html (if you have suggestions on the site itself, let me know--I am the webmaster).

bottom line is pyramid schemes are illegal under both state law (all 50 states) and federal law.

no, so i briefly cruised over to the website yesterday to take a look. not a whole lot of info available there and i don't have time to leave a name and number for one of their reps to call me and give me the pitch.

not sure what category this fits into (MLM or pyramid scheme)--it may not be either type, for example, it may be a cooperative (eg REI)--but it doesn't really matter to me (as an individual). my personal opinion is that MLMs are NOT good investment opportunities (although my professional opinion is that an MLM at least has a legitimate business plan [although very FEW people actually make serious money doing it]). i'd rather invest my money elsewhere (stocks, bonds, business ventures).

bottom line: if you think an MLM or a pyramid scheme is your next ticket to the big bucks, think again. a pyramid scheme is nothing more than a deceptive pratice designed to steal your money, and an MLM requires so much work to make it profitable that there are other conventional business opportunities that will net you much greater gains with less work. always carefully and critically review ANY business proposition before becoming involved. might save you down the road so to speak.
