It has to sit outside. I live at home still but I'll get a cover for each and then put the truck in storage in the winter until I am out on my own.

Too bad, but if you don't have the storage space I guess your options are limited. Out of curiosity, why are you daily driving the brand new sedan, but parking the 11-year-old truck? Gas mileage? Reliability? It seems somewhat counter-intuitive that you would put all the wear-and-tear on a car that is arguably nicer than your truck?

IMO vehicles are meant to be driven. I'm not buying a vehicle to sit. I love my truck and have babied it and it is cleaner than new trucks I see each day. Gas mileage, reliability etc are all reasons. I need to hop in and go not worry about cam phasers, aging components etc. I don't want to keep driving it in the snow and the car is easier to drive back and forth to work. The car is already getting 5-6 mpg better and is easier to maneuver during the commute. The truck is my "hotrod" if you will. I'm never getting rid of it. The car will be left stock except a few small appearance mods and then left alone. Pay it off, drive for a few years and get a new one. Only attached to my truck... dailys will come and go. The truck isn't being parked...I drove it today on my errands and what not. Its just not going to work during the week or in snow anymore.

Gotcha -- I think one of these days I'm going to have to upgrade my "daily driver" program! I'm driving all around the State of Texas in an old '97 Cavalier and these young bucks just out of school are tooling around in brand new sedans.....

The problem I have is that I always get too darn attached to vehicles. I purchased my '09 Ranger thinking that would become my new daily driver and then the next thing you know I'm waxing its bed and parking it in the garage and buzzing around in my old '97 Ranger and after that, the '97 Cavalier instead! Heck, it even kills me to let the Cavalier sit outside in the elements the way I do -- I don't know if I could purchase a brand new car (especially one as nice as your new Taurus), park it out in the driveway, and then fall asleep at night.....

I'm definitely going to have to keep the Taurus in mind for the wife's new vehicle, though -- she says she wants another Escape, but I think it would be nice to have a car this time around for something different......

Sorry that I'm a little late to the party, but nice looking car there John! I drove a fully loaded Taurus when they first came out and was very, very impressed. And the seats were awesome!

Thanks Tom and John! It's so comfortable and I love sync and mft. The stereo sounds incredible. That really surprised me. Averaging 23 right now.

I've done a few mods to the Taurus. I did weathertechs, mud flaps, and body side moldings when I first got it. I have a painted Sho spoiler waiting to be installed when we get a little warmer. I put a nice grille overlay on. The Sho grille is nearly $400 and you have to pull the bumper cover. This was $160. A lot of people do the police interceptor grille but I think it looks cheap since it's matte black and has no chrome surround. I just swapped the interior to LEDs and plate lights. And I have the led mirror puddle lights on order.

Next year I'll get a nice set of 20" summer wheels. I have them picked out - OEM off another model.

Later this year I'll be fabbing up a cat back exhaust and probably wet okles.

I've really enjoyed the Wet Okoles I put on my '09 Ranger -- they still look brand new and still fit and hold onto the seat perfectly! I will definitely consider putting a set on whatever vehicle we eventually purchase to replace my wife's '05 Escape!

You picked a perfect color for a daily driver that sits outside -- Silver shows very little dirt and ages more obscurely than many other hues.

What is that little structure behind the car? It looks like it has a house entrance, but seems too small to be a single-family home?

Agreed, I love them on my truck. They're a great value for sure. AMD I also am a big fan of the silver. Especially with the mods I have planned.

That is the owner's office at my work.
