Just got screwed by GMC
Just got screwed by GMC
So I have always liked the Mazdaspeed 6's, and I found one local that had the three things I wanted- low miles, White, and local availability. I live about two hours from Jacksonville. I found one online yesterday at a GMC dealership (Coggin GMC of Orange Park) and sent an e-mail about it. It went downhill from there. This is copy/pasted as I wrote to the BBB, Yelp, and their Facebook page:
I contacted this business at 11am on Thursday, Nov 13, 2014 about a used vehicle they had for sale on the internet. I was e-mailed back from a sales rep immediately regarding the vehicle and I communicated to him I wished for more pictures of the vehicle. I did not get a response. At 6:50pm that night, I was contacted by an internet sales rep via phone and asked if I would like to see the vehicle. I did and we set up an appointment for 11am the following day (Friday Nov 14, 2014). I arrived at the dealership at 11am and was informed that the car was sold on Monday, to the manager of the business. The salesman said "sorry" and walked away, so we left. I returned home and tried to get in contact with the number the internet sales rep contacted me from the previous day. They said they did not have anyone working there by that name. They then transferred me to the main office's number where they took my information. I asked for a call back. About 15 minutes later, I got an e-mail from the same person that I asked to receive pictures from. I replied via e-mail asking him to call. He called and I explained the situation that I took a day off work and $30 in fuel to come see a car when in fact it was sold 4 days prior. He apologized and when I asked that he relay the message to the higher ups, he hung up on me. I have just tried to call back the main office to get in contact with the general manager and they will no longer answer my phone calls.

This dealer screwed me over good. I would appreciate any help anyone wants to give. My salesmans name was Michael Powell and his number is 904-647-2237. If you guys could spread the word about this, it would be appreciated!

I wouldn't trust any Orange Park dealership for anything. Their sole purpose for being in business is to prey on the military - NAS Jax is a huge base and without the base Orange Park wouldn't even exist.
consider them as doing you a favor, imagine if you had purchased it and had any service problem. I wouldnt do business with anyone i had to work that hard for. as for the higher ups, i tend to find that "stuff" rolls down hill. they have probalby been schooled to do the old bait and switch.
All new car dealers do this, advertise one thing with the hope of up selling you.

Brother, it had low mileage and one previous owner who was an older fella. Everything was stock on it. There were some key areas to look out for on Speed6's and I would've been the first to check these. If they all looked good, I had planned on taking it to a Mazda dealership and let them do a pre-buy inspection. I also had a buddy local that knows the Borg-Warner turbos really well and if all three checked out I would have proceeded with the purchase.
I'm just looking for something fun to replace the truck as a DD. I was looking at Mach1s but the lack of space and higher insurance premium kills it for me. Oh well, the search continues.

They're owned by a larger corporation of dealerships so I send them a "howdy-doo" e-mail just for kicks and giggles. As far as me, I'm done with it. The search continues.
