Looking for a newer truck..

So it's finally come time for me to upgrade to a newer F150, I love my truck, but it's starting to have its problems and I'd rather not dump a load of cash into a truck that's almost 17 years old when I could put it towards something newer that has 4x4.

Anyways, I've been looking at a lot of the 06-08's (skipping the 04-05's due to their known issues), is their any reason that the 06-08's should be avoided when they have around 60-75k on them, or anything I should be looking out for specifically if/when I go to look at some. Also, any ideas on how long I should see out of them with regular maintenance?

Also any other trucks I should consider looking at? I'd like to stay in a ford, but I'd consider going to another manufacturer (except dodge) if I can find one that fits in my price range of around 15-18k.

Thanks for any help!

06 and early 07 5.4s still have the 2 piece spark plugs that can break during removal. That issue was corrected in late 07. If you're looking at anything below a late 07 I would find out if and when the spark plugs were changed.
Otherwise they are good, reliable trucks.

Late 08, not 07. Of course, the 4.6 doesn't have the plug issues.

Any reason to avoid the 4.6? I found a couple single cab short beds I like, both with the 4.6. I know it'll be less power than the 5.4, but coming from my truck with the 4.6 it's still gonna be more powerful than what I have now.

The 4.6 is normally a solid, long lasting performer. Has no particular pitfalls other than limited towing ability.

Late 08 get updated plugs
09 facelift 6spd on 3v engines
10 efans
11 4 new engines

or you could just get a close out '14 once the 15s drop the fall

Right here, '07 Lariat loaded up, 4wd 3.73 black on black, moonroof, bedrug, audiophile, tow pkg, 121,800mi. NADA Guide book price is $20,300 clean retail, $18,000 will take it!

The 4.6 is reliable, but woefully underpowered in these heavy trucks.

As much as I would love to own your truck, I'm not sure if I want black again. Too much of a pain to keep clean haha. But at least I'd know it was maintained and treated right haha.

Still a decent bit more power than I have now.

If I was shopping for a truck again, I'd hunt for a Lightning or a Shamu HD, but those aren't exactly "newer."

Second choice would be a second-gen Tundra with the 5.7
