HDMI Cables

Getting Apple TV box and need to pick up an HDMI cable for it. I had heard that the high end, $80+ cables from Monster and the like are not worth the money and make no difference at all over a $20 cable. Any truth to this? Are the expensive, name brand cables worth it?

I've had no trouble with the cheaper GE cables. I have a few friends who are big into the home theater stuff. They are the ones who buy the cheapest HDMI cables Usually monoprice.com

Think of it this way: How many people do you know make this amazing sound system and then still listen to their music on crappy high compression files? Most. That's a situation where you'd want to go a bit farther. Unless you have some insane need, I don't see the point and I wonder if the human eye can even see any differences. They always tell me get the cheapest you can. I know for a while "Gold tipped" was the thing to have. Supposedly less interference. No issues with regular tipped here on 3 different tv's at home.

Monoprice and the Amazon basics both get pretty good reviews from a lot of the home theater people. Cable usually doesn't make a difference unless your doing long runs like over 30 feet.

I saw a review on tv that showed signal in and signal out were the same on expensive cable and $12.00 cables. Maybe a very long cable would show differently but there was no difference on cables tested. Go cheap.

My cheap wally world HDMI looks clean and clear as long as the program is clean quality. Netflix looks fantastic!

Black Friday GE purchase cables at Target. Two 6' cables for 20 bucks IIRC. No issues

I second mono price.

I rebuilt my home theater last summer, and saved a ton on cables from them.

They are well constructed, have a good warranty, and mono price has great customer service.

Even $20 for a cable is a little high.

+1 Monoprice. They have a lifetime guarantee on cables.
